“Needs a make over ..... Hotel de la Monnaie”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

Just returned from a trip to New Orleans 11/20/2013 and stay at Hotel de La Monnaie Room 308. The 3rd floor location. The location is great right on the border between the French Quarter and the Marigny. My wife and I was suppose to stay 7 nights but we cut it short by 3 nights. THe master bed is too small and very uncomfortable. The place smell OLD. The T.V. clock, electronics are OUT-DATED. Need new electronic throughtout the 2 bedrooms. The T.V in the master is a 15 inch. ( TOO SMALL)
This hotel is BELOW my standards.
I owe 3 different timeshares and this is my worst exchange to date. This is NOT a FOUR STAR MOTEL listing.

BEWARE !!!!

Room Tip: TRY any other TIMESHARE BUT THIS !!! Select aother location with more new furinture, electronics and...

If you are looking to experience the French Quarter in New Orleans....this is the place to be! It is in the heart of the French Quarter. If you like to be near real Jazz clubs...stay here. We love the private setting...with Quaint surroundings and Beautiful Architecture. If you are looking for modern hotels...with big swimming pools & fitness centers ....then go to a chain hotel! This is true New Orleans Style. Small pool....but nice rooms with kitchenettes.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near second or third floor balcony area. When there is a street festival, you can si...

We loved it. As others have said, it is the location, the helpfullness of the staff, the charming decor and it is extremely quiet. on the Esplanade side. We prefer it to a big, fancy hotel any day. The kitchen is small, but it was adequate for simple breakfasts, sandwiches, and warming up leftovers from restaurants..The hotel arranged pickups for tours and we took the red line just across the street to everywhere we could not walk to. We will return. N. Ballard

Room Tip: We were in either 206 or 207--a 1 BR

This little hotel is just a perfect place. Not fancy and not modern But comfortable and friendly and helpful staff. Plus it is just a few blocks from the heart of the French Quarter. And the price can't be beat

May not be the fanciest hotel I have stayed in but it was clean, staff was super and it's location is awesome. I have to agree with all the rest of my fellow reviewers the location rocks. Walking distance to French Market, Cafe Du Monde and everything in the French Quarter. If you are poking to head to the Garden District (where Commanders Palace is) and Magazine Street. It is not walkable and will cost you anywhere from $15 - $20 a cab ride. Worth the trip but I am partial to the French Quarter. I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel de la Monnaie as well as my fellow traveling companions. We shared a 2 bedroom , 1 bath, tiny kitchenette and a nice size living room. Thanks for the Hospitality!

Location was great; 1 block to French Market; 1 block to Frenchman Street; Streetcar across the street. Hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful (front desk, maids, maintenance). Limited free parking! We parked our car and walked or rode the Streetcar everywhere we wanted to go (French Quarter, City Park, Garden District, Bourbon Street).
We stayed in a one-bedroom unit on the 2nd floor that included living room, bathroom, bedroom and hallway kitchenette (little refrigerator with small freezer area, 2 burners, sink, microwave). Plenty big enough for our left-overs! Ice machine on every floor. Small rooms, but great for the French Quarter area. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Also have extra space outside the room with additional table & chairs. Room was very clean and the entire resort was well maintained. Great balcony on the 2nd floor overlooking Esplanade Avenue with tables, chairs and lounge chairs.
Didn't use the pool, very small. More of a wading pool or decoration. Looked very clean.
Very pleased and would definitely stay here again. Loved it!

Across the street to the French Quarter. Half a block to Frenchman St (the best music scene in NOLA, IMO). The French Market and Riverfront Streetcar (and its connection to the Canal St trolley lines) are also just steps away. Limited free parking-a rare commodity in NOLA; park and walk or take a cab or transit around town-its cheaper and you'll see more!

Staff is great. They will provide almost anything you may need, and can also book tours for you. Coin op laundry machine in garage. Units have mini kitchen-fridge, 2 burners, microwave, coffee pot (but hey, this is N'awlins- eat out!!!).

Train or club noise can occasionally be heard, but after a night out on the town it won't take long to sleep.

HdlM is always my first preference for NOLA accommodations.
