Rose Manor Bed and Breakfast

We stumbled onto the Rose Manor 4 years ago while searching for a place to stay during Jazz Fest. What luck! We've stayed there every year since, and just booked a room for this year's Fest. The rooms are comfy and beautifully appointed, as are the common areas (living room and parlor). Owners Peter and Ruby treat us like family, and the price is quite reasonable.
The Rose Manor is on Lake Pontchartrain. It's not the French Quarter. Good thing, too. We don't have to scramble for cabs, fight traffic, or pray that we can get into a decent restaurant before bedtime. There are a number of good, reasonable restaurants with available tables close by.
The Rose Manor makes the Big Easy easy. Business or pleasure, this is a good place to stay if you're in New Orleans.

Don't miss the chance to stay with Peter and Ruby. Peter is a gracious host, a great story teller, and a good listener. The house has the feel of a manor. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The beds are comfortable. The showers are clean. The wifi is fast. They know the city and the region and are happy to help you find the treasures in and around New Orleans. The breakfasts are delicious and plentiful. Ruby is a jewel. The manor is located away from the bustle of the city in a quiet safe neighborhood near Lake Pontchartrain. Easy to get to from the airport. An easy drive to wherever you might like to go.

I stayed here with friends while visiting Mardi Gras. The rooms were large, beds comfortable and furnished with lovely antiques. We had a great home cooked breakfast each morning and there were always plenty of fresh fruit, drinks and coffecake available for snacking. Ruby was wonderful about introducing us to the other guests. Peter was a wealth of information about the history of the area. It was like staying at the home of gracious friends.

Room Tip: there is a wonderful family room upstairs that is great for those traveling with children.

Rose Manor is a great place to stay. It is conveniently located in the historic Lakeview section of New Orleans, near Lake Pontchartrain and away from the traffic snarls downtown. Many excellent restaurants are nearby, as is a wonderful walking and running trail offering splendid views of the lake. Ruby and Peter went out of their way to make us feel at home. The comfort and elegance of Rose Manor easily exceed what you would expect for a bed and breakfast in its price range. The hot breakfasts that Peter cooked were truly extraordinary, as were the plentiful amenities that were not even highlighted in the information we reviewed on Rose Manor prior to staying there. We would definitely stay at Rose Manor again.

I took my husband to New Orleans for a birthday celebration. We had never stayed in a Bed & Breakfast before so I spent hours searching for the right one in a safe neighborhood. The house is lovely and the owners are absolutely the nicest people! The bed was comfortable and room was spacious. We had reserved the family suite but our daughter was unable to come at the last minute and the owner offered us the smaller room at less rate. She didn't have to do that and it was very kind. We didn't eat there since we are late risers but the food smelled wonderful! Great location, next to the Yacht Marina. Very quite. Thank you Ruby and Peter!!!

My husband and I had a week in New Orleans and were very pleasantly surprised by the Rose Manor. It felt more like we were staying with friends. Both Peter and Ruby were great hosts, who recommended many great restaurants and places to visit which enhanced our stay. Definitely recommend!

This B&B is among the best, if not The Best, of the many at which we've stayed. Ruby and Peter are gracious and charming hosts, and they strive to meet each guest's every need. They provide more amenities for the guest's comfort than any other B&B we've visited: drawing rooms, teas and sodas and bottled water and pastries and more available at all hours, several hours during which breakfast is available, and enough on the breakfast menu to please most palates. The room was spacious, with plenty of dresser drawers and room in the closet for any length stay. Though it is an old home, there is a delightful freshness about the place. Everything is comfortable, from the great location near Lake Pontchartrain to the beds and bedding, and everything in between. Our conversations with Peter and Ruby were the best part of the stay. We disliked nothing, although the keyless front entry did remind us that we were in New Orleans. We know that our future stays in New Orleans will be at this B&B.
