“Splendid service and very comfortable rooms”

This was a great hotel for a stay in New Orleans. It was just close enough to enjoy the French Quarter, but far enough away where we weren't bothered by the noise late at night. The staff were beyond hospitable, and the beds were heavenly. The only issue we had was that the rooms weren't cleaned until quite late in the day, almost up until 5pm.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again should I find myself in New Orleans on another visit.

Room Tip: The hallways stretch off in all directions, so choosing a room overlooking Canal Street is usually t...

We arrived at the Ritz on Friday August 31st. Flew in from Los Angeles looking to have a fun filled bachelorette weekend in NOLA. The front desk was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had 2 in our party checking into separate rooms and Ricky at reception got us the rooms at the end of the hall on the 6th floor across from one another. The great thing about the 2 end rooms was that you could close a door that led to the hallway and make both rooms across from each other a set of adjoining rooms.

One room faced Canal Street and had a great view. The other room did not have a view and unfortunately had some water damage right near the corner window. The carpet was soaked through in about a 5x5 foot section. From what we could see it appears as if the rain from the hurricane got into the room via the window sill. The window facing the back of the hotel is right at roof level for the lower floors. We called the front desk twice and they failed to send someone up to look into it until one of our party contacted them a 3rd time. It was of course Southern Decadence weekend and the whole hotel was very busy because of all the folks checking in, but still, a follow up call after an hour would've been nice. The hotel offered us half off of one night and then a different room for the following evening and a bottle of champagne.

The next day we got a call from the front desk regarding being moved into a different room. The floor was still wet in one corner of the room but it didn't smell bad and could be avoided for the most part. And since we had our adjoining neighbor's room with a view to hang out in, we decided to stay in the room for the rest of our stay in NOLA. The hotel did not give us break on the price of the room for the additional days, which kinda sucks but overall our stay was very nice. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn't get to check out the other amenities such as the restaurant, spa or the gym so I can't speak to how they are. I would totally recommend the place for its location and the service. And I'm sure that had it not been for the hurricane our room would have been perfect.

Room Tip: Try to get a corner room facing Canal Street. The view is great.

We stayed at the Ritz for a bachelorette party. We found the price of the hotel to be cheaper than a lot of other hotels in the area so we thought, why not stay here?! Check in took a little while but we had a group of 12 so that's to be expected. Also, in one of the rooms we had two queen beds, in another room we had two double beds and the final room looked like it had beds that were smaller than a double, but larger than a twin. We also had to switch to a different room because when we walked into it, it was still dirty. Beer cans were everywhere and the beds hadn't been made. But they switched us to a room on a different floor. But in their defense, we flew in the Friday after Isaac hit so I know they were having staffing issues and whatnot. The hallway smelled like a babies diaper the first night but I didn't really smell it after that. Overall, it was a nice hotel at a perfect location.

I surprised my wife for her birthday and took her on an overnight trip to New Orleans for some good meals. I booked the Ritz on points from grueling business trips, which it's always nice to cash them in on something special. We arrived early, about 11 am, and they were very accommodating. They called me about 30 minutes later to let us know they had a room for us.

Everything at the Ritz is everything that I expected of the Ritz, posh and polite with excellent service. They were excellent hosts to our overnight trip and I apologize to our neighbors that had to endure our night away from the kids :-)

We had plans to travel to NOLA the Thursday after Issac but we had to push the trip back a couple of days for obvious reasons. The staff at the Ritz were awesome b/c we had to change dates for our arrival. The hotel was in spectacular condition without any damage that we could see and more importantly the staff at the Ritz was TOP NOTCH as usual. This is a fabulous hotel, right in the heart of a FABULOUS city. The band that they have onsite in the cocktail lounge was awesome and the service in all areas of the hotel was top-notch. The people of NOLA are awesome people & they continually roll with the punches. Although most of the residents were STILL without power after 4 days they were still upbeat and didn't complain. Even though I we know that their home situations were tough the staff at the Ritz was phenomenal as usual.

$300.00/night but this was a 3 day holiday weekend and it was a family suite. Great courtesy and quick reception. Great room, nice bar and Restaurant. Valet parking was quick, however for $45.00 shouldn't they wash the car as well? Would recomend staying here.

Two friends and I spent a girls' weekend in our hometown at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans to celebrate our 50th birthday. We arrived early for check-in (around 11:00) and realized that check-in was 4:00 so we asked if they could just check our luggage until then. To our surprise they allowed all three of us to check into our three separate rooms. We were pleasantly surprised since we were prepared for a few problems since we had read a few reviews that expressed some issues.

Our rooms were very luxurious with robes and plush furniture. Two of us overlooked the courtyard and one of us overlooked Canal St. We soon left to go sightseeing and only returned in the late afternoon. We really enjoyed the elderly gentleman, Howard, who always greeted us and escorted us to the elevator and wished us a good day.

On our return back in the afternoon, we stopped at the Davenport Lounge to have a drink. There were only a few tables occupied so we sat down and waited for the waitress to come by. We watched several tables get waited on but we kept getting passed by. We thought perhaps we needed to go to the bar so my friend went up to get waited on there and again nothing. A waiter named Marc Roberson came by and realized noone had waited on us so he immediately apologized and took care of us. We talked to him about our birthday celebration weekend and he was very attentive. Marc was wonderful! He even made us a special birthday cake tasting drink in our celebration shot glasses. Marc made up for any problems we had getting served and we had a great time laughing with him. We took a picture so we could remember him. He was a gem!

We changed after drinks to go out to dinner. Later, we returned for another drink in the evening. The Davenport Lounge was very busy so we moved into the courtyard which was also busy and into the back area called the library with books, a piano, sofas and televisions. It was a very nice, quiet room that not very many people seemed to know about where we could have a drink and talk.

We got to our rooms and to sleep after midnight. The beds were wonderful but unfortunately since I was on the courtyard side, I heard talking and noise all through the night up until around 6:00 am even though I was on the 5th floor. This would have to be our only complaint during our entire stay.

When we checked out the next morning, I mentioned the courtyard noise to the lady at the desk. She told me that Saturday night is Jazz night until 1:00 am. But apparently, people can stay for as long as they want without a noise ordinance. I was told next time to request a room off of the courtyard on the weekend (who knew?). I found that it was surprising that noone else seemed to complain about this in the past because there are several floors of rooms all facing in a square into the courtyard.

Other than the noise, the stay was wonderful. Everyone was very helpful and attentive especially Marc in the Davenport Lounge! We were glad to see our city representing itself to the tourists in such a positive way. By all means if you get a discounted rate (as we did) to stay at the Ritz, do so. It is within walking distance to all areas of the French Quarter. Be sure to eat at The Palace Cafe right down Canal St. from the Ritz. The spinach salad and shrimp tchefuncte are always my favorite!

Room Tip: Request a room away from the courtyard on the weekend to avoid the noise during the night.
