“Love This Hotel- But Honestly, Not Walking Distance to French Quarter”
Reviewed 27 May 2012

I really love this hotel. I have stayed here twice and my latest stay was great. We stayed in the Warehouse Building, where the rooms are spacious with tall ceilings and high windows. Some rooms are suites with kitchens. Rooms facing the Convention Center are regular sized hotel rooms and nothing special. Make a point to ask for the Warehouse Building. The lobby is beautiful with hard wood floors and huge floor length mirrors. It has track lighting all around the ceiling and sitting areas with lamps so it is well lit. I saw one table with an antique telephone on it. There is a Concierge who was there in the morning until late in the afternoon. The breakfast area is very large (larger than an average Hampton Inn) with plenty of places to sit. They had large tables that would accommodate 5 or 6 people. The breakfast was the usual Hampton Inn fare of cereal, bagels, toast, and waffles with the exception of pre-cooked cheese omelets.

The front desk had lemon ice water available at all times, but no cookies. There was a little shop off the front desk that had snacks for purchase and other things like bandaids and aspirin.

This hotel also had a nice pool area and a bar.

The hotel staff and other reviews on Tripadvisor say it is within walking distance of the French Quarter. It would be a serious trek if you walked straight from the hotel to the French Quarter. It is within walking distance of the Convention Center, the RiverWalk shopping center, Harrah's Casino, and even the Aquarium of the Americas, but it really is not within walking distance to the French Quarter. If you stop at all of the other places first, and then walk to the French Quarter, then yes, it is within walking distance from the hotel. But to say it is within direct walking distance from the hotel is not true. You will be tired and looking for a taxi cab.

The Valet Parking is the only parking option and is $29 but it was very prompt and orderly.

We stayed in a large suite in the "old" part of the Hotel. Beautiful! Large and spacious, comfortable and quiet. Hotel was very nice. Breakfast good. VERY BUSY with people. 5 minutes to the cruise port and hotel provided to and from. Pool was tiny and no real restaraunt. Bed super comfy.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in "old" part for quiet, walls are brick and ceilings are high. But room ech...

If you're coming to New Orleans for a convention, this is the place to stay. It's right across the street from the Convention Center and a very comfortable, relaxing hotel after a day at the Convention Center. The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. Christopher checked us in and everything went smoothly even though we didn't have reservations. The hotel is beautiful and spacious. They were able to give us a room with a king sized bed, that another hotel was unable to guarentee us. The pool area has plenty of places to sit and there is always ice cold water with cups at the pool for you to help yourself. The bar is right next to the pool and inside, but there is a window that you use to order from the bar while you are at the pool. Clever! They offer free hot continental breakfast in the mornings and there were plenty of options, not just cereal and coffee. Also, you can get free coffee and tea anytime of the day or night. Our room was good sized and overlooked a surrounding garden. There was a USA today waiting for us at our door when we woke up in the morning. Our room also came with a microwave, fridge and DVD player. The room was big enough that it had a pull out sofa too. They also have free wi-fi, unlike some hotels in the area. All of this for only $125/night, what a steal! Stay here if you are in town for a convention, you won't be disappointed.

I've stayed at this Hampton many times for work in New Orleans, so when I needed to book a hotel block for my daughter's wedding, it is the first place I thought of. It has very easy on / off access to I-10. The hotel has tons of New Orleans French Quarter charm...very different than your average Hampton Inn. Great little courtyard area and a bar (also not typical of a Hampton). I called several different hotels to get pricing information for the wedding block and the Marriott I called never called me back after our first discussion. The Hilton Garden Inn called back -- 2 months later!! The sales office at this Hampton was great to work with, very attentive and got back with me quickly every time. The rates they gave us were incredible based on the going weekend rates at that time, making it affordable for my whole party. The only negative is that they are not in the heart of the French Quarter -- but definitely walkable to everything, or a quick, inexpensive cab ride.
Very Good Experience!!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Hampton Inn last week, while visiting New Orleans. The hotel itself is beautiful, it has gorgeous lobby (which is also very spacious), the rooms were comfortable and clean, the breakfast was very good and very well attended, but what separates this hotel from many isn't the building, it is the service. The front desk staff is knowledgeable, friendly and certainly exceeds the expectation for customer service.

I hesitated with this choice, thinking ohhh it'll be "another chain" in a city where there are a few other choices. SO GLAD to have picked the Hampton Inn Convention Center! We stayed in a suite in the warehouse building which was comfortable and huge - the tall ceilings/windows gave such an open, airy appearance - far beyond "ordinary." The front desk was friendly and gave quick support with any question or issue. Nice courtyard pool area - good at night but a little hot during the day with no breezes. The location is convenient to the arts/warehouse district with several good restaurants within walking distance. Easy walk to Riverwalk mall - there's not much of substance at that mall, but it's good for 'something to do.' I was concerned about the safety of walking in that area but it was never a concern.

Room Tip: Warehouse rooms are good! We had 202 and if we went back, would choose it again.

We loved this hotel! The lobby is really nice with old hardwood floors. It has a lot of character. We had a 1 bedroom suite and it was HUGE! The bedroom was huge with giant windows, the living room was spacious with a pullout couch, there was a nicely sized kitchen and the bathroom had a jacuzzi tub. It's really close to the convention center and within walking distance to great restaurants. The hot breakfasts were a huge bonus too.
