Outside of a place in China, this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. New Orleans can be expensive, and I'm on a budget so this was a cheaper option. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. There is a sign at reception saying guests not allowed into the premises after 11pm and then never in a guests room, only in the public areas (the public area being the reception and the balcony). When I ran water into the sink a collection of dead and alive bugs emerged into it. There were no plugs in the whb or the bath, not that it really mattered because no one would ever bathe in the heavily stained bathtub. I repeatedly reported the sink problem and a maintenance guy turned up, poked about a bit, used some fluid, and told me he'd removed a lot of hair and gunk. Some of which he kindly left on the bathroom floor. The sink was still blocked and stayed that was for the rest of my week there. The location is not bad, close to the French Quarter, in a picturesque street. I would say that with the team they have in place, and some investment from the owners, the place could be a gold mine. It is too far gone for me ever to recommend anyone stays there. No Empress ever did! The wifi is not exactly speedy.
