Owner description: Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, located in the U.S. Custom House on Canal Street, encourages you to use all five senses as you explore North America’s largest museum devoted to insects and their relatives. You’ll discover why insects are the building blocks of all life on our planet and along the way, you’ll be shrunk to bug size; wander through a mysterious Louisiana swamp; join the active audience of an awards show for bugs, by bugs; and be captivated by thousands of butterflies in an Asian garden. Voted A top museum for you and your kids by CNN, 2009.

Amazing bugs! At first glance this place looks like a children's museum. Things are large and colorful, but don't be fooled by the flashes of color. There is some great information there. With 70 live displays this place will have something neat to see. The cafe will give you a chance to join the club of insect eaters. The head chef is expertly cooking up some tasty fare for your delight. Highlights include the 4D theater, butterfly garden, and the many displays of diversity in the insect world.

Super for kids. Really good exhibition with interactive parts. You can pet some of the insects also and our one year old loved the butterfly room. A very good visit :)

We went primarily for the kids, but the adults had a great time too! Very creative and interesting displays, the chance to eat pumpkin and cricket pie for thanksgiving, and a really fun movie experience made for a really entertaining way to spend the morning! Price is a bit high, but not tremendously so.

The layout ensures that you don't miss anything. You go from one room to the next with no chance to skip anything. There are all kinds of strange and unusual bugs. I went for the butterflies and was surprised to enjoy the everything else too. A butterfly even landed on my husbands nose. This is not just for kids. Adults will enjoy it too.

My husband and I had a great time at this exhibit. It was not overly large, but we really took the time to look at all the displays. We even sampled the bug cafe selections. There are a few areas that could use a little TLC; as much of the underground section didn't seem to be working. The price wasn't bad and we were even able to use a coupon that we found online to save a few extra dollars.
