“Great location, nice room.”
Reviewed 24 March 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel for four nights. We arrived at 3:00 P.M. checked in quickly but our room was not ready, they stored our luggage for us and advised it would be about an hour for the room. We ate and the room was ready upon our return. We were on the forth floor at the end off the hallway. The room was nice, bed comfortable, and there was a big TV.

Our room was quiet but we were as far away from the elevator as you could get. There is just the one elevator and I'm impatient so I ended up taking the stairs most of the time.

The wifi was a bit slow. The breakfast had enough selection that most people should be able to find something.

We checked out and had some time before our flight out so they again stored our luggage for us. I liked the hotel but probably would stay some where else next time.

We booked the Hotel Le Marais 2 1/2 months before our trip through Hotels.com. Three days before we were to arrive, we received a call from Hotels.com telling us the Hotel Le Marais had "an inventory problem" and wanted to move us to the Crowne Plaza... at the airport. The airport is 20-30 minutes away from the French Quarter. Completely unacceptable. How are they booked up when we booked well in advance, and how is it they waited until the WEEK of our arrival date to bother to tell us, AFTER we received a confirmation of our impending stay a day before? Hotels.com had a lot of trouble finding us another room in the French Quarter as a result. Based on their obvious problem with overbooking, we won't plan on staying here ever, even if other reviews are so positive. If a hotel won't honor your PREPAID reservation, they're not worth booking. I'd hate to have arrived and been stuck with no hotel to go to!

I just stayed at the Le Marais hotel for Mardi Gras. The hotel is beautiful and great detail and thought went into the decorating of the property. While the hotel is located on Conti Street between Bourban and Royal it could not have been quieter. Once you enter through the front door you are in a quiet sanctuary. All the staff are wonderful. The staff appears have have great loyalty to the property and it shows from the front desk staff to the housekeeping personnel.
Thanks Le Marais staff for making my stay so enjoyable. I can't wait to return to a first class property.

We booked our reservation 2 months in advance through the hotel and received confirmation e-mails 3 days before arriving. However when we got there, we were told there was some type of problema and we had to wait for the manager. The manager came out, immediately got on the phone and left us waiting for 20 minutes while she discussed our situation with someone else, NEVER inorming us what was goin on. Finally she got off the phone and told us the hotel had overbooked and she was looking for us another place to stay for the night. It was a major hassel to stay at a different hotel each night of our 2-night stay. Then upon check out, we received a bill that was $100.00 more than the rate we booked for. We had to provide proof of the rate we booked it for. We did this, by logging onto the hotel's OWN website and showing them our confirmation information. The staff was completely disorganized and not very helpful.

Dear kristinaann,

We cannot express our apologies and regret enough.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we end up with an overbooking at our hotel. On the very rare occasion this occurs our company policy is to relocate affected guests to another of our rooms of a higher standard. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience we caused you by relocating your reservation to another hotel and over-charging you.
I am saddened to hear that you didn’t enjoy your stay but value all feedback and use it to ensure our hotel continues to earn its reputation as a special boutique hotel, with great service, in a fantastic location. Thank you for taking the time to write a review for our hotel.

I wish I could write an actual review of this hotel, because I was looking forward to staying there. However, they called three days before we were scheduled to arrive and told us that the hotel was overbooked and they had to cancel our reservation, even though I had reserved two months earlier. They offered to put us up at a sister hotel near the airport. Why go to New Orleans if you're going to stay at the airport. Just ridiculous. Luckily I was able to find another hotel in the Quarter on my own. Just completely unaccepatable. We will never stay at this hotel, even though we come to New Orleans frequently.

Overall, in terms of quality, we were very happy with Hotel Le Marais. The hotel was very clean, very new, and very comfortable. However, we did have an experience that prevents us from giving the hotel 5 stars. The hotel was overbooked by the time we checked in and half of our party (of 7) had to stay at a hotel four blocks away, and while I give them the benefit of the doubt that it was because we booked on a travel site that oversold the hotel, there were a few details that should have prevented this from happening to our party. First, half of our party, including the one whose name the reservation was under, had spent the previous night at the hotel and informed them that they were there for BOTH room reservations. Next we had tried to check in 2 times prior to check in time, but both times were told that rooms were not yet available. When we finally did get to check in, two hours after check in time, we were told there were no rooms. Given that they CLEARLY had notice we were there, it was utterly frustrating that they didn't have a room for the rest of the group and we had to be split up. However, the hotel acknowledged that they should have reserved a room for us and ended up paying our cab fare to the new hotel (which was very nice) and comping us the one night's stay. Because the hotel was able to acknowledge their mistake and handle the situation very well, and because it was otherwise very nice, we do recommend it.

My husband and I just returned from a visit to NoLa, and a stay at Le Marais. We selected this hotel based on the reviews on this site, and would highly recommend it. It's in a great location for anyone who plans to spend a great deal of time in the French Quarter! Just off of Bourbon, Royal and the other streets where the 'action is' but amazingly quiet considering the craziness closeby. The room was great -- we had a room with a courtyard balcony. In addition, we enjoyed the free continental breakfast each morning and a free cocktail in their bar. Although on the more expensive side, overall we were very pleased that we chose the Le Marais!
