The courtyard and grounds were very lovely but the room we had was horid. When we made reservations, the party on the other end of the line was very courteous and reassuring. Stepping into the room, first impression was "oh my".
Very small and bare bones. Ironing board propped up in the corner, no room to set things on, no chair etc. Walls painted purple was also on the woodwork, telling us not much care was given to an update. Killed a cockroach in bathroom. Toilet ran on and off on its own throughout the night. 'Bathtub would not drain properly. Persons at the front desk indifferent and could not really recommend place to eat. Really? There was rowdy crown next door at on site restaurant and bar and left us a little unnerved..Very dissapointed. Don't believe the pics. They were gorgeous and our room was very poor. We have traveled extensively and are not hard to please but this was the worst for the money. Trolley was a convienenc

Left message for GM and he never returned it. For this reason I give them a "Poor".
I had an issue with the room. No return call, no effort, no response from management, no return of funds. As a regular business traveler, it is disappointing the lack of professionalism by those in an industry that is supposed to pride itself on quality of service.

I am a 25 year old male grad student living in a low rent apartment in Indiana. I do not have exceptionally high standards. With that said, this place is a filthy [--]. Let me list the problems with my room real quickly:
1. Mold growing on the carpet next to the refrigerator
2. Mold on the bottom of the shower.
3. Barely repaired large hole in the wall near the bathroom.
4. My room connects with another, and the lock between rooms is broken; it will not engage. I rarely feel unsafe but that seriously concerns me.
5. Iron but no ironing board in the closet.
6. Sweaty old t shirt on the bottom of the closet floor. Not mine.
7. Lousy breakfast
8. Dirty coffeemaker
9. Huge gap under the door to the room, cracks in the door to the outside (as in the outdoors; this place does not have indoor hallways).
10. Huge hole in the wall that the shower head is coming out of. Did they just use a sledgehammer to make the hole rather than a hole saw? God only knows what is growing in that hole.
11. One of the two lamps doesn't turn off.
12. Sketchy fire-hazard extension cords

I could go on, but I guess that I won't. This place is a miserable . Pick another hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights - found through Groupon. Was an interesting set up with various buildings - 2-3 floors, spread around the property. Three buildings created a courtyard around the breakfast spot. The parking was across the road from the rooms. The lobby was a 40 second walk and was a unique New Orleans style.
The staff was helpful and professional, the rooms were safe, clean and quiet; the beds were comfortable. There was a perpetual aura of slightly damp in the room - southern humidity I guess. There were a couple of shabby spots ie the shower head pipe was loose in a hole in the wall, carpet was a bit grubby - but overall, the place was well-located and had character.
Don't get excited about breakfast - bare bones options but a snack if you want it.
I would both return here and recommend it!

We recently hosted our 50 people wedding at the Maison St Charles Courtyard and it was a huge success. Although we are locals, every single guest was coming from out of town, so we actually came across the idea of hosting the ceremony at the hotel while researching group hotel bookings. We found out the courtyard is for hire for a few hours at a very reasonable cost. It's a fairly large space which happens to have an arch, a fountain and tables/chairs available. It was pretty much a blank canvas for us to be able to work with, and I was amazed at how beautiful it looked on the day.
Most importantly, the whole process of booking and arranging both the guests and the ceremony space was simple and drama-free. Lee and Janae worked hard to make sure everything was organized for us, and the stars of the day were the maintenance guys who lugged rental furniture, linens and all sorts around to both set up and break down the event. They did everything with a smile and we couldn't have done it without their cool, calm and flexible attitudes!
All our guests thought the hotel was great value and were pleased with their rooms and pleasantly surprised by the small details such as the pool, free breakfast, proximity to the streetcar, etc. The make up artist who came to the hotel called it "a diamond in the rough" and although I disagree that St Charles Ave is exactly "in the rough", I totally agree that we were so lucky to find a somewhat overlooked hotel and put it to incredible use!

My friend and I snagged a deal on Groupon and came for a visit over Labor Day Weekend. Absolutely loved the hotel! It has a unique set up and the buildings have so much character... the location can't be beat! The Streetcar stop is right across the street or you can take a taxi into the Quarter for less the $10 one-way. It's walking distance the historic homes & Lafayette Cemetery and then fast food & restaurants are all nearby. Oh, and the highway is just around the corner so that's easy access too! Check-in/check-out was super quick and easy and the front desk agent was extremely friendly. The added bonus is that parking is free for AAA members!! $17 saved per night! The complimentary breakfast had a nice spread with eggs and waffles and your typical breakfast foods like cereals, yogurts, breads, etc. Cute little breakfast area with indoor seating and outdoor patio area. Our particular room was indoors so it felt like we were in an old apartment building, but the room was beyond spacious with vintage decor + microwave/fridge & lots of windows. The beds were super comfy!! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the city!
