We were a very small group. There were only 5 of us including Mathew the guide. Our meeting place was the Royal Oyster house on the corner of Royal and St. Louis. We walked straight up St. Louis to St. Louis Cemetery No#1 stopping occasionally for Mathew to regal us with some stories, facts and history about the french quarter, new orleans and basically anything we could throw at him. I especially liked when the conversation turned to the difference between cajun and creole. It was a very informative, laid back and fun way to spend a few hours on a hot day in July. Once we reached the cemetery, we were again told stories and facts about some of its occupants and how the tombs were utilized....(recycling at its finest.....organic level, ewwww). I highly recommend this tour. I don't know if the groups get any larger but 4 or 5 people is perfect. Mathew did say it's best to go in a group and i have to agree with him as it's not really in a great neighborhood and is out of the French Quarter.
