You can't do better than this B&B. The level of comfort is way beyond other places I've stayed anywhere. The hosts are extremely thoughtful, helpful & informative and will help make your stay in this charming city much more memorable than you can imagine. An easy walk to Frenchman will find you among numerous restaurants, great music & the magic of New Orleans.

We stayed at this B&B for a few nights and were so glad to be in this area - surrounded by cute houses, great cafes and just a few minutes away from loads of great bars and restaurants, jazz in the streets, etc. Our room was large, comfortable, charmingly decorated and included a fridge which was handy!

This was by far my favorite part of New Orleans! It was our first time there and we were just crossing our fingers based on the reviews. We stayed for 4 nights in the Suite and it was gorgeous, a great price, and we could walk to everything. Even though we were there through arguably the coldest week of the year, the Inn was always warm and a comfort to come back to. There was a TV, WiFi connected computer, and even the bathroom was lovely (double shower heads!). Added bonus - the Cake Cafe is right around the corner. Glen and Darrell are welcoming and easy-going. If I return to NOLA this is the place for me - feels like home!

Room Tip: Loved the suite!

Had a welcoming experience staying in Glen and Darrell's Sunburst Inn. Every detail about the accommodations were perfect. From the large living room to the soft and comfortable bed to the helpful suggestions of the hosts- you couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Go for coffee at the Who Dat café right down the street. Skip the Orange Couch. But definitely try C...

We feel very lucky to have stayed one whole week at the Sunburst Inn and agree 100% with the comments of other contributors. We walked to the Cake Cafe every morning for the best breakfasts ever and used The Orange Couch for coffees too - both right on the doorstep of this charming accommodation. The beds and pillows are wonderful. A huge bonus was having a computer in the room with excellent wifi.

We were fortunate enough to book the Suite at the SunBurst Inn. To begin, Darrell was prompt in always responding to my inquiries. The Suite is simply fabulous; the King bedroom is awesome with the accompanying double showerhead shower with excellent water pressure. The large livingroom makes your stay feel like you're at home. In addition to being a fantastic place to stay the location is ideal. There are two excellent breakfast/lunch places within two blocks, The Cake Café 2 blocks away is a must for breakfast.
Frenchmen St is abt an 8 minute walk away. The French Market a 10 min walk and Bourbon St abt 20 mins. This is good as after you eat at any of the outstanding restaurants in any of those areas you have a nice safe walk back to the Sunburst Inn. You cannot go wrong staying at this wonderful Inn.

On the strength of the reviews here on Trip Advisor, I booked a three-night stay at the Sunburst Inn during a (rare) November cold streak. Available was the Platinum Jr. Suite, the larger of the two upstairs bedrooms. It's one big room, approximately 20 x 30 ft, with 12 ft. ceilings and an adjoining bath with toilet and shower. But man, what a shower. There are three shower heads, capable of delivering an array of temperatures and water velocities, and a heated tile floor - a sybarite's dream, if there was one. In the room was an enormous and inordinately comfortable bed, an enormous armoire, a deliciously comfy easy chair, a couch, and a gargantuan Sony widescreen LED TV. As we learned when we arrived, this is a B without the &B (breakfast), although the rudiments are provided... cereal, milk, juice, coffee & coffeemaker. Just don't expect a table laden with high-cholesterol goodies and long conversations with other guests. There are numerous breakfast options nearby, as other reviewers have noted. And the price -- what an incredible bargain. We were more than willing to sacrifice the big breakfast for the economies this likely produced, which the owners have passed on to their customers. The owners, Darrell and Glenn, are gracious, hospitable, and thoughtful hosts, mindful of your needs and always available if you've a question or concern.

For those unfamiliar with New Orleans, Marigny is a safe, up-and-coming neighborhood situated just to the east of the French Quarter in a neighborhood of almost deliciously cool Creole houses ... nothing fancy, mind you, but tasty nonetheless. The Sunburst Inn is one of these. It's unimposing from the modest frontage, but it runs back a considerable distance, allowing for a first-floor guest suite that is booked very long in advance. Nearby is a coffee house/breakfast joint and a pastry shop. From the inn, it's a ten-minute walk to the outskirts of the French Quarter or the streetcar line running along the riverfront. Closer still is the wondrous Frenchman Street, which left me convinced that the New Orleans I knew 40 years ago is still alive and well: great food, incredible music, fabulous clubs, wondrous works of art in streetside fairs, and restaurants with mouth-watering menus. We took Darrell and Glenn's recommendation to heart, enjoying dinner twice at Adolfo's... including an outrageous rack of lamb, which consisted, I am convinced, of not only all of the ribs of the lamb in question, but those of a very large lamb indeed.

That there are better places to stay in New Orleans I am certain; there are beds with breakfasts to die for and locations that don't require as much hoofwork as the Sunburst does. But all of them would run you at least twice as much dinero. Face it: You need to lose some weight. In return for the spartan morns and modestly lengthy hikes you get a wondrously comfortable room, two likable hosts, and what has to be one of the greatest bargain secrets of New Orleans.

The house is a Victorian style built in 1905 and has all the original floors and chandeliers with 12 foot ceilings. We are just 5 blocks for the French Quarter and 3 blocks from the famous Frenchman St. where there is live music and great dining. The Street Car line that travels along the river is 5 blocks away and there are also great little cafes on the Conners from our place. The Marigny neighborhood was vote a top ten place to live in 2010 by the ADA. We like to say that we are far enough but close enough to the madness of the Quarter. ... more   less
