Owner description: The partying never stops on Bourbon Street, the French Quarter's liveliest and wildest thoroughfare, where the rhythmic sounds of jazz, country western, Dixieland and sultry blues permeate the air. Brimming with life, you'll find everything from shopping to music to Cajun food to nightclubs.

Can’t go to NO without stoping at Bourbon Street. If you are a young adult, wanting to let loose, this is the place for you! If you are a bit older, then maybe the occasional stroll down Bourbon Street is a better plan. My favorite places though are Pat O’Brien’s Piano Bar, Cafe Beignet’s courtyard (great breeze), and Fritzel’s Jazz Club. Otherwise, leave it all to the “kids”.

Bourbon Street is for the most part what a tourist thinks New Orleans is supposed to be - lots of extremely crowded bars with lots of drinking, jello shots and bands/dancing. That is not the real New Orleans. While there are some good bars, go in the day or early evening - Old Absinthe is tiny, nostalgic and locals hang out there on Friday afternoons. Just across the street is a great bar for dancing -The Famous Door - again in the afternoon or early evening. Cat's Meow is just fun early evening but get the hot spots and then go for a nicer street. Galatoires and Bar 33 are both on Bourbon and are excellent places for lunch, cocktails, or dinner. Now don't get me wrong New Orlean's people love to party! Boubon street is just not a place to hang out or linger all day or all evening. It smells bad all the time, worse at night and warm days, gets terribly crowded as the sun goes down and everyone is drinking those tall drinks which often end up back on the street - There are so many fun places to go in NOLA...really no reason to waste time walking up and down a dirty crowded street for the most part. Go, see it, hit the hot spots and move on.....

First off bourbon street stinks it is very seedy at night plenty of drunk people and people begging but you can’t go to New Orleans with out take a look.If you have kids go during the day when it’s more relaxed if you’re just after fun go at night but theirs a lot more nicer places to eat and drink in Nola

If you want a huge loud drunk party then go. Ok for a weekend just to check it off the list but I wont be hurrying back.
Did I mention the smell?
