Who wants to visit a cemetrey, well infact I do, as do many thousands more. The cemetery is quite like nothing I have seen before. Because New Orleans is below sea level the graves have to be specially constructed and the toumbs are then placed above ground. Some of the plots have been with the same family for hundreds of years. If you can, try and visit it in an organsed group, that way you will get all the facts and figures etc, which will, pardon the pun, 'make it all come to life'.

The Cemeteries in NOLA are amazing- Creepy and beautiful.
A lot of the cemeteries require tickets or tours but St. Louis #3 is FREE!
I would suggest doing a little research on the cemetery just so that you have a better understanding of the area and the history behind some of the sites

The old Cemeteries in New Orleans are interesting to see, but if you plan on visiting any one of them, visit with one of the many tours that are offered. It will be a guided tour and it will be safe. Cemeteries in the New Orleans area are not patrolled as they should be, only at certain times and holidays. Be safe.

I have not done the other cemetery of the same name, but I was confirmed the St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 is one in the best shape. If you want to see the way the cemetry were built and have a feel of it; the #3 can really be a good one to discover.
