We chose Save Our Cemeteries for our tour based on reviews and on the fact they they're a non-profit organization and the money is used to help restore the cemeteries. The cost is $20 and well worth it (there are some coupons available, but it seems counter-productive to me?).
Meet at the Basin St. Visitor Center and arrive early to enjoy the exhibits and short film (do not meet at the cemetery or you'll miss the tour). They use some maps and exhibits in the visitor center to explain some history of New Orleans, which is very helpful.
Then you walk as a group to the cemetery for the tour, which lasts almost 90 minutes (suggestion: bring a bottle of water and wear a hat - it gets hot). Our guide was very informative and it was obvious he truly cared about preserving the cemeteries. Lots of insight into the local culture and customs as well as giving details of notable tombs. You could do the cemetery on your own, but you'd miss so many of the rich details and stories. I highly recommend a cemetery tour with Save Our Cemeteries - will definitely do another with them!
