A local recommended we try 801 Royal. This was our last night in New Orleans, a city where we have enjoyed amazing food over the course of many visits. The atmosphere at 801 is not your typical "dark" French Quarter atmosphere. It has a more modern "clean" vibe yet retains an authentic feel in keeping with the local historic surroundings. Actually quite a refreshing find! The decor is great in both the restaurant and bar area with an open concept. The service and food were both exceptional. We shared a great catfish dinner, lightly dusted and fried but not heavy accompanied by a house remoulade sauce. It included a scrumptious crawfish bite (a crawfish hush puppy), coleslaw and potato salad sides. We also shared a very welcome grilled shrimp Caesar salad, a welcome lighter fare change after the heavier meals enjoyed this trip and will definitely be back on a future visit.
