“Great Location Average Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 November 2011

Just returned from trip for my bday over veterans day weekend. The hotel itself is decent, but the location is perfect. You can easily walk to Canal St, Bourbon St. and almost any other location you may want to see. The hotel charged a nightly occupancy tax(approx. $50 for 3 nights) that I thought was included in the room rate. The first room we were given had a very strong smell of sewage in the bathroom, thankfully we were immediately switched to a more suitable room. I opted for a room with a window facing outside as opposed to one with a hallway view, there was some outside noise but not to bad.The room was kinda small, I travelled with two other adults and we shared one room, bed was comfortable but only two fulls instead of queens. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would probably stay at hotel again, but would first try others in the area.

Dear ladyj17,

Thank you for posting a review on your most recent stay with us. Your feedback is very important to us. We are glad to hear we were able resolve any issues and accomodate your request prior to your departure and have forward your comments to our maintenance department for further inspection. We do apologize if there was some confusion concerning your final bill at check-out time. The hotel (as well as all hotels in downtown New Orleans) are required to charge local and state taxes as mandated by law. We would be more then happy to explain the breakdown of the charges if you would like. Please contact us at 504-522-0083 if you have any further questions and we do hope you reconsider staying with us again in the near future!

We had a fantastic stay here over the long Halloween weekend. The two double beds were super comfortable and we had two big windows overlooking the streets. We were also lucky enough to have a small sitting area right outside our room which made our space a lot bigger and more comfortable. The staff was wonderful and we really appreciated the friendliness of the housekeeping employees who took care of us to no end. They took pictures of us in our costumes and really gave us a great feeling about the people of New Orleans. The lobby staff were wonderful as well. Everyone was very helpful and seemed sincerely interested in making this trip the best possible. The lobby was gorgeous and had a really nice model of the city which was a cool way of getting orientated. The only complaint we had was that the windows did not open which made the room a little stuffy. Also, it was fabulous weather and we would have liked to have some fresh air in the room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with windows for natural light and not opening on to the railing which could be a lit...

friendly helpful staff, good location, clean comfortable room, all you need for a busy 4 night stay. Would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was on the front of the hotel and was noisy from the street outside.

The reviews here are really accurate, but their ratings are higher than I would give this hotel. We went to NOLA to spend the night for our 3 year anniversary, and it was a last minute reservation. Due to the Voodoo Music Festival there were no bed & breakfasts available at a decent price so we had to settle for a hotel. The building's architecture is beautiful, but the way the rooms were made isn't the best. The walls are paper thin. We could hear the next door's tv. Not the most romantic of settings. The room smelled a peculiar way. The bathroom and bed were comfortable. The toiletries were nice. The customer service at the front desk left a little to be desired...let's just say the conversation upon our arrival was unprofessional at best...not what one expects from a Wyndham hotel. Overall it was ok since we were only there for the night, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for a long stay. The location was good because we could walk to Bourbon Street, Riverfront area, and since it's in the financial district then there was no noise from the street. The noise came from the other people in the hotel. We were awakened early by children slamming doors in our hallway. Another thing that wasn't mentioned in the hotel's website, and I didn't see in the prior reviews here, is that they charge $20 for parking. Taking that into consideration would have probably led us to pick a different hotel because as much as we spent for just one night, it just wasn't worth it. Not a good value at all!

Room Tip: ask for a corner room because the walls are paper thin

Dear seasand55,

Thank you for posting a review on your most recent stay with us. Your feedback is very important to us. We apologize for any noise-related issues you encountered during your stay with us. During Special Events, such as the Voodoo Festival, guests may experience some noise-related issues due to high occupancy throughout the entire city, but we do strive to keep the noise-level to a minimum at all times. As for issues relating to the front desk, I have forward your comments to the department head so it can be further reviewed. In regards to our hotel's parking fees, please note that all hotels in downtown New Orleans do charge a fee to park a vehicle, but our parking fees are very reasonable and we do offer other parking accommodations if guests prefer to park their vehicles elsewhere. Our website (baronneplaza.com) states the parking options under "The Hotel" and rates are subject to change. Please contact us at 504-522-0083 if you have any further questions and we do hope you reconsider staying with us again in the near future!

i stayed here for 3 nights in July before picking up a tour.

The hotel is great, really clean, with really spacious rooms, gorgeous bathrooms and comfee beds, no noise either from the road!

There was free wireless and computers in the main lobby and all the staff were really friendly.

The location is fab as you are so close to canal street, and within about 3 blocks to the french quarter especially bourbon street which is the best thing about New Orleans!!

The walk down to the river takes about 10 mins whilst passing lots of shops, restaurants etc.
Everthing you need to see is within walking distance from this hotel.

I really enjoyed New Orleans and my stay here and would recommed this hotel always!!

This property is very convenient to the French Quarter and a short walk to the acquarium and riverfront. I stayed here for a conference and felt very safe walking several blocks to the conference hotel and area restaurants. The rooms are very small and face the interior of the hotel - so if you are one to require natural light, then you might not be comfortable here. The staff was very helpful and pleasant and allowed an early check-in. I'd stay at this propery again - great value for the price. It's close enough to the action of New Orleans, but not so close to hear it all.

Room Tip: All room face the interior of the hotel.
