Best Western Plus French Quarter Landmark Hotel
Ranked #60 of 166 Hotels in New Orleans

Reviewed 11 December 2013 via mobile

We visited for 3 nights this month and after toying with more expensive options such as the Omni Royal and Hilton we decided to go for this for two reasons. One location and 2 breakfast is included free in the price. All the other hotels looked at had breakfast as a separate charge adding expense to already expensive rooms. On this note the breakfast is a full Buffet and is also quite acceptable, cereals, breads, waffles, cooked etc. the location Is the best part it's a street away from bourbon street meaning its close and safe to walk to and from but also you can escape the noise when you want too. Some of the more expensive hotels are right on bourbon street and must be so noisy at night. The rooms are sizeable and clean modern TV etc. If you are looking for a hotel that offers excellent value, good rooms , a good safe location in the French quarter and better yet breakfast I recommend this hotel without question. If I ever go back to such a brilliant city o would not hesitate to stay again.

Nice hotel and great staff. Toilet paper roll needs to be moved!! Breakfast should be extended to at least 10 am. Guest should know they have outside access to their rooms not and very little elevators with not much space.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the room was nice, but small. Breakfast was quite good for a hotel. We were troubled by mechanical noises all the time, not sure if from the elevator or HVAC...we were on courtyard, second floor. Was surprised to find that parking onsite was $20.00 per day! Not something they mention upfront, but as there is really no other place to park, guess it is a bargain. Every where you want to go in the French Quarter is a reasonable walking distance, and the streets felt quite safe, even at night. You are at the edge of the French Quarter at this location, which is quiet, but everything involves walking several blocks...restaurants, etc.The only thing close is Louis Armstrong park, right across the street, if you are seeing a show there at the theater.

Room Tip: I would definitely want a room that opens to the courtyard, not an inside hallway room.

This Best Western sits and faces Rampart. Considered the north edge of the French Quarter and across from Armstrong Park. We really liked that we were on the outskirts, but had the ability to walk in whenever we wanted. The room was dark and cozy, but not small. Just warm tones. Breakfast was nice, but simple. The standard fare really. The thing to note here is parking. That's gonna be an extra 30 a day plus tax. There isn't enough parking either, so you might have to double up and leave your keys at the desk. Could take a while to get out if you are buried in and want to leave. Honestly, if we return to New Orleans we will fly and walk everywhere. We pretty much did anyway. Our parking would have almost paid for one of us to fly!

The Landmark French Quarter is a lovely, unobtrusive hotel within walking distance of the highlights of the French Quarter, but far enough away to be quiet. Across the street is Armstrong Park, full of open space, sculptures, and history. While the hotel is an older building, it has been well cared for and they offer an excellent breakfast (included with your room).

We stayed two days on Nov. 17/18 and we were delighted with our accomodation. We had room 342 on the top floor with a garden view. The room was large with table and chairs and a king size bed. It was super clean and the room was equipped with a Coffee maker, fridge and in room safety box. You can access your floor with two elevators. One in front and one in the garden. The one next to our room could be heard when working, but no one used it at night, so we were never bothered with the noise. The garden area has a pool which was open but I did not use it because it was getting colder and rainy when we arrived. Also there are tables and benches where you can relax and have a drink. Very nice set up. The complimentary breakfast was great and the area was very clean and well maintained by the attendants. There is also a nice bar in the hotel wher you can get a Hurricane. At reception the staff was more than helpful and patient in giving us with all the information we needed. The location is great and more quiet than in the center of the French Quarter, but still everything was within a walking distance and we always felt safe. It was also very easy to walk to the downtown area (large hotels ans Casino) and the Mississippi River Walk. You do not need to rent a car. You can always take a double decker hop in hop off bus or the trolleys if you need to go a little further with no effort. There is a great little Cafe for take out or a quick lunch on Rampart St. a block away from the Hotel: ''Mister Gregory's'' You have to try the Onion Soup. A must. I was sad we could not extend our stay and I would definitely go back to this Hotel.
