“Great Location”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

Stayed here for 3 nights on vacation and really enjoyed this hotel. The location is great as it is right on the edge of the French Quarter but only about 3 blocks away from Bourbon. It's far enough away from the party streets that it's quiet and you can relax, get some sleep and get away from the craziness of the French Quarter!

As others have said, the rooms are a bit dark but they are gorgeously decorated and very clean. They are also a bit small but who really comes to New Orleans to sit in their room?

We really enjoyed the courtyard and pool area. The weather was nice and we got some time to relax by the pool.

The breakfast is free every morning and very good. They had a great selection of muffins, waffles, bagels, eggs, cereal, bacon ETC.

Staff was friendly and helpful. On our final day there our flight left very early at 6:30AM so we had to catch a cab around 5AM (when the French Quarter partygoers were just going home). The desk clerk stood out in the street for us and flagged down a cab. We really appreciated that!

A few sidenotes: the elevators are VERY small...only can fit 2 people in them (just an FYI) and also, we felt very safe at this hotel but when you are coming back to the hotel at night stick to the busier streets like Bourbon or Royal and take them all the way down. We made the mistake of taking a deserted street back to the hotel on the first night and it was a bit scary! Just pay attention to your surroundings and you will be fine! :)

The area near the vicinity of the hotel had me a little worried about our decision to stay. However, from the moment we walked in the very friendly desk attendent set the tone for a wonderful stay. Micheal, the Housekeep Exec, was awesome. He came in personally to tidy our room after the hotel experienced a large checkout on Sunday morning. He entertained us with his lively tales and lovely demeanor. The hotel was in close proximity to French Quarter. In fact, the walk was most welcome after the enormous meals we ate. The staff was helpful in suggesting things to do. This was my first time actually exploring the city. My three previous experiences were Mardi Gras (2) and a business trip. This has definitely become our new home in New Orleans.

Room Tip: A courtyard view room is a definite plus.

My wife and I spent about a week in New Orleans and this hotel was convenient to the French Quarter but not in the middle of all the excitement. It was a 5-15 minute walk to anywhere in the French Quarter and right on a major bus route if you wanted to take transit to elsewhere in the city.

The breakfast had a good selection with both hot and cold selections. Made extensive use of the free wireless internet and the computer desktop stations because airline cancellations.

Room was cleaned to our satisfaction every day. I would recommend asking for a room that overlooked the inner courtyard.

We stayed for three nights in this hotel. We were travelling with another couple and we chose the hotel for its value and the fact that it was a little way away from Bourbon, which we were told could be very rowdy.

We arrived very early but despite this we were allowed to go straight to our rooms. The desk staff were friendly and helpful, as were all the staff.

We had rooms on the third floor but both rooms were in a dark corridor away from the open courtyard (which is very attractive) but was not in our view point, we just had a grey wall.

The room was decorated in dark colours and had far too much furniture which made it feel small and oppressive. There was a huge square table, two easy chairs, a double size bench, large tv cabinet, bedside tables and the bed itself. It was a king room but it felt smaller due to the decor.

The bed was comfortable and the shower was okay. The big BUT is the cleaning or lack of it. When we arrived I noticed there was dirt in the corners of the bathroom/toilet area. It was still there when we left three days later. The shower itself looked clean but the soap shelf needed a good scrub. It's a pity because it let the place down. The cleaners were in and out of the rooms so fast and it could have been so much better.

Breakfast was the usual fare of most hotels, nothing special, but nothing wrong either. At least this hotel had china crockery and silver wear rather than polystyrene and plastic, which is what the last five hotels on our tour of the Southern States have had, so a bonus.

If you decide to stay try and ask for a room that opens onto the courtyard because you will at least be able to get some light into the room and a lovely view of the court yard and pool.

This is a nice hotel, and I would stay again, but it would be so much nicer with a lighter decor and less or smaller furniture in the room, plus a proper check by a supervisor to ensure cleaning standards are improved.

My wife and I were in town for a concert event. We were really impressed with the staff at this location. When we arrived the clerk advised about walking to the French Quarter from the hotel and the best routes to take, especially after dark. We decided last minute to drive to the concert because of weather concerns. The concert did not end until late and when we returned to the hotel the gate was shut at the entrance. My wife ran in and asked the clerk who came out promptly and opend the gate. The parking was a little tight especially since I drive a large SUV but amazingly I had no problems parking. Overall I could not have been happier with our stay. The price could have been better but that is always the case. I will return to this location in the near future with the rest of my family and have no problems recommending it to friends.

A very quiet and excellent customer service hotel with friendly staff. Just hope that breakfast items will have more variety on different days, Hotel staff is very helpful on giving advice on places to go or eat. Room is clean.

Had a great experience at our recent stay in NOLA. Starting off the staff was super kind and helpful. Tracy was wonderful and allowed us to check in early, recommended a great little market and deli 2 blocks from the hotel, and recommended a really good bus tour of the city. On top of that, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the entire room. Shower was nice and beds were comfortable. Free breakfast was good and had a wide variety. Prime location to Bourbon Street which is nice at night. Only negative here would be the noise. Constantly heard people running and walking by as well as slamming doors and maid carts rolling by. As a heads up, the elevators are super small, parking isn't free, and there is no bathtubs in the rooms. Overall would definitely stay here again!
