“Great Valentine's weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2014

My husband and I are beginners to the world of B&B's so we were not sure what to expect when we arrived and the Avenue Inn. Once we arrived we were greeted by the InnKeeper who was very nice and made sure we knew all about the Inn. He was was very informative of the City and gave us many tips that helped us during our stay. The room was decorated beautifully and very comfy. The streetcar runs right in front of the Inn so it is very convenient to the Quarter and more economical then the taxi ride.. cab cost is about $17.00 to go to the French Quarter if you decide to go that route. We will certainly make plans to return back to the Avenue Inn.

Our daughter lives in New Orleans, and we visit 5 or more times per year. Depending upon our planned activities, we sometimes stay downtown but we much prefer the Garden District/Uptown area. We have stayed in B&Bs, inns, and hotels in this part of town. Last weekend was our first time staying with Joe & Bebe, and we already looking to our next visit in April. Wonderful people and experienced innkeepers (we almost always stay in B&Bs or inns while traveling, and we have had plenty of not-so-good experiences with inexperienced ones). Also, I must mentioned the special window coverings they have installed. Staying right on St. Charles has many advantages, but you typically must put up with some amount of street noise. Not here. The plexi-glass coverings shut out the noise but allow an unobstructed view of the street. This is just one example of the effort they have made with their home. You will enjoy your visit.

My husband and I stayed here last week for a 5 day honeymoon. It was our first time in a B&B, really nice experience. Best decision ever!!! It is located in the Garden District, close enough for us to go to the French Quarter or walk around this beautiful neighborhood, but without the inconvenience of noise or crowds. The house is lovely, I think that it was built in 1891 and the room that we got was furnished with antiques and nice old furniture. The innkeepers, specially Joe, were super friendly and helpful and they recommend us a lot of tours and things to do during our stay. If I ever go back to New Orleans I will be staying here for sure. Really nice experience for a really good price.

Room Tip: Ask for the period rooms, they are a little bit more expensive but is worth it.

Joe and Bebe who run the Avenue Inn B & B were wonderful. They took the time out to answer any questions and were very helpful in providing anything we needed. The accommodations were fantastic, providing the old world charm New Orleans has to offer. I would highly recommend the Avenue B & B when visiting New Orleans as a wonderful option to the ordinary hotel stay.

The company I work for had a retreat here, and the weekend was fantastic. The Avenue Inn is situated perfectly on Saint Charles Street. It sits right on the trolley car system, so getting around is very easy. There are great restaurants close by, every meal we had was marvelous.
The inn itself is clean and well maintained for a historic mansion. It is quiet and relaxing (great front porch), and the rooms are clean and well appointed. The rich history of the area as well as the house itself are fascinating.
Joe and his staff were very hospitable, and highly attentive to any of our needs.
We would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend it to others.

Room Tip: With 3rd floor room, it is warmer than the rest of the house, but less noise.

When I travel I always do a lot of research and I certainly did the same as I looked for a place to host our employees for our annual meeting. I'm not a big hotel fan and love doing things a little out of the box. So I called the Avenue Inn to see if we could work out a deal to rent the whole B&B. Joe was great to work with, he was the consummate host continually checking to see how he could enhance our NOLA experience before and after we arrived, calling cabs, giving suggestions, helping with directions and attending to everyone's needs. Our employees loved the experience, loved the location and loved the house. Homerun is the only word that I can think of to describe this weekend. Thank you Joe!

Room Tip: Every room I went in was terrific!
