Stayed two weeks in November including Veterans weekend.

On arrival in cab we were greeted by cheery security guard (Harold) who was clearly expecting us as he knew our names and the room we were in; he took our baggage and place it away in the closet in our room.

Room reminiscent of days gone by, but in the romantic sense rather than out of date and tasteless. Friendly receptionist (Becky) recommended a grocers barely a block away for what were very good po-boys (for those of you unfamiliar with New Orleans this is less of a sandwich more an institution) as we were hungry after travelling from UK and too tired to hunt far for food.

Room clean and bed firm but comfy, and surprisingly quiet considering it was first floor and on the (Chartres) street. Hotel breakfast next morning in the Terrace lounge, very tasty French toast, cheese omelette and bottomless coffee, overlooking the pretty courtyard with unheated salt water pool.

I use a wheelchair and there is a step from the first floor rooms to reception and bar area but the hotel provide a sturdy ramp and staff were always quick to get it out whenever I needed it. It was worth it for the bar, where Rinny and his colleagues mix excellent Bloody Mary's, Ramos Gin Fizzes and Sazeracs (another New Orleans institution) which are served with friendly banter in a mood-lit cosy atmosphere.

The hotel is very handy for Bourbon Street but far enough away not to be effected by any noise from the late night/early morning revellers from there. Very convenient also for the Flea Market and French Market, barely a block away and open from dust to dawn 7 days a week. Also 2 blocks from Frenchman Street with its many live music venues for Jazz, Blues and more, but do book in advance as these are very popular with the locals as well as tourists.

All in all a clean, convivial and friendly hotel, where the staff seem to be one big happy family and made us at least feel welcome as part of that family for our stay. Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in New Orleans, whether new to the City or a repeat visitor. Excellent all round and we will definitely want to return here whenever we go back on vacation.

Room Tip: ask for upstairs, overlooking courtyard for the quietest rooms. If you have mobility issues, ask for room 100 or as near as is available.

Great location. Spacious suite. Great staff. Hotel is quiet - a real "find" in the French Quarter. Walking distance to everything in the French Quarter. Not a lot of amenities. Room decor dated - very '70's. Regardless, we would stay there again.

Good location, romantic, and friendly staff. The room was a little run down but had character. The breakfast in the morning and the pool in the back was very nice. The area was very quiet at night but very close to all the bars and restaurants on Bourbon Street.

Perfect location in French Quarter, five minutes from Frenchman's Street and five minutes from the French Market. Charming, European style throughout. The room was clean and spacious, and had a balcony overlooking the street. It was far enough from Bourbon Street to be quiet at night. Will come back again next time we're in New Orleans.

This gem is within walking distance of anything you would want to do in the French Quarter, and the trolley is too! The staff is exceptional from the front desk to wonderful ladies that keep the rooms clean. The owner is so warm and welcoming, the hotel itself is beautiful and quiet. There is a courtyard around the pool that is perfectly lit for an evening cocktail at the bar. I highly recommend this hotel if you want to experience New Orleans without all the craziness of Bourbon Street. I will stay here anytime I am in New Orleans. there is a gated parking lot, once you park your car there is no reason to move it until you leave the city.
