Description: "When people ask where in New Orleans to go for great local seafood, I want the answer to be Borgne." - Brian Landry, Executive Chef Chef Brian Landry grew up fishing on Lake Borgne, the epicenter of coastal cuisine in Louisiana. His passion for Louisiana seafood brought him to create Borgne, a celebration of coastal Louisiana with a touch of Isleno influence. Borgne will be a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, a CBD lunch spot, a quick bite before the game and a casual setting for a delicious dinner with friends.

Great food! Tons of seafood selections fresh from the gulf! The decor is modern with amazing oyster pillars in the dining room. Their cocktails are craft made and super fresh! Dessert is not to be missed!!

Chefs John Besh and Brian Landry were fishing buddies for years before they owned a restaurant together -- and many of their trips were to Lake Borgne. When they finally opened their restaurant, they wanted to preserve the heritage of the old lake restaurants around Borgne with fresh, rustic hunter’s food.

Besh and Landry also decided to explore the Spanish side of New Orleans' Creole heritage at Borgne -- in particular the cuisine of the Canary Islands since most of the Spanish settlers in New Orleans were from that area. Island-inspired dishes on the Borgne menu include: Seared Tuna with Chorizo Marmalade, Butter Beans and Citrus Vinaigrette; Grilled Octopus, Berber Hummus and Garlic Caper Confit; Slow Smoked Pork Empanadas; Twice-Cooked Garlic Chicken and Arroz a la Plancha; Adobo Marinated Hanger Steak and Potato Croquetas. The plates in general are much lighter than traditional French food. Butter is replaced with oil and it's all incredibly delicious!

The interior is sleek and modern. The restaurant is casual, but with very attentive service. Great cocktails and wine list.

Chef John Besh has several highly-regarded, popular restaurants in NO. Having never tried one, we decided to try Borgne. It's located in the Hyatt on Loyola Ave (a bit off the beaten path but walkable from Canal St and the Quarter) and apparently a cross between a hotel restaurant and a sports-type place (games playing on large screens). Don't let the casual look dissuade from trying as the food is very good. The fish was perfectly prepared and delicious - as we hoped. Service was friendly and our server had good suggestions. This is not a leisurely place where you want to hang-out for hours but instead a way to try Besh's cuisine in a casual atmosphere.

Inside the hotel you not expecting a restaurant this good. Measures up with the best in New Orleans. More intimate than the rest of the hotel but can get quite loud so don't expect much conversation, just enjoy the food.
