“Charming...Location Can't Be Beat!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2012

We just returned from our stay in New Orleans. The Quarter House is located on Chartres St ... about 1/2 block from Canal, a couple of blocks from Bourbon, walking distance to The French Market, Street Cars, Casino, and the entire French Quarter. It's not a 5-star facility, but it was perfect for our trip. The staff was very nice and helpful. We exchanged in through Interval and weren't bothered at all about buying options at The Quarter House which was very nice. We stayed in 432A (1 bedroom/2 bath lockout-4th floor facing Chartres). Considering the age of the building, we were pleasantly surprised with the room. It was clean enough and very spacious. The beds could be more comfortable, but other than that, we were very happy. We could hear some street noise from time to time, but nothing intolerable and our sleep was never interrupted. The courtyard w/pool and hot tub is small yet beautiful. The hot tub would hold no more than 2 people comfortably and the pool is a nice spot for a dip on a hot day-don't plan on swimming laps for your daily exercise! I'm not sure if it was our location in the hotel, but the "free high-speed" internet is not very reliable and the signal was always very low if we could pick it up at all. It's an amazing location and a charming facility; We look forward to returning to The Quarter House on future trips!

Right in the French Quarter, doesn't get any better than that! Strip club a couple doors down, but hey, you're in New Orleans!
The front desk seemed to really enjoy helping visitors find their way around, always got service with a smile. Calling this a "resort" is a big stretch, there is a tiny splash pool in the courtyard where you can cool off if you don't mind being on display. Other than that, I'm not sure what exactly the resort-y part was. The wine and cheese was paper plates and folding chairs, which were all taken. Also, if you like strong coffee, bring your own! The morning coffee was like a brown crayon dipped in water. This is a timeshare, and we were approached to discuss the "opportunity," but declined, we were never pressured or approached again.
We came during the Jazz Festival, and stayed in two different rooms. The first was a very nice two bedroom two bath, with a big master bedroom, felt like an apartment with an impressive kitchen area, in the back of the building and off the street, very quiet and private. Our second room was a one bedroom on Rue Chartres, which was noisy at night and not nearly as nice. But would definitely stay there again, so much nicer than a cramped hotel room!

Room Tip: If you like quiet, don't stay on the street.

I loved this place the first time I stayed here in August 2009 but loved it even more the second time. The place has been totally remodeled. We were here for Mardi Gras and couldn't have been in a better location. Nice and close to the parade routes so easy to run back and forth. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are nicely furnished and quite comfortable. It's an easy walk from the Quarter House to any where in the French Quarter. We stayed in Room 219, Bayou St. John.

I will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Ask for Bayou St. John!

Our first time to the big city and what a wonderful place to stay. We had a one bedroom with a kitchen. A balcony to sit out on. The service was great. Sunday morning breakfast was very enjoyable as was the cheese and wine Tuesday evening. If I had a question, a friendly response was always received. Very much enjoyed our time and would highly recommend Quarter House to others.

The service for this place is very good. The staff is all friendly and accomodating. My only complaint is with the rooms. They need updating and need much more comfortable furniture. The bar stools are wrought iron and weigh about 50 lbs. a piece. There is one sofa and no chairs in the entire apartment. Hall noise could be loud at times.

The location is superb, and parking is only a block and a half away.

The Quarter House is one of the grand dame's of New Orleans. Our room consisted a master bedroom with a king bed, spare bedroom with a queen sized bed, small living room, dining area and kitchen. There was a wide screen tv in each bedroom and the sitting area. Decorated with a vintage flair the 2 BR/2 bath unit (room 425) was spotless, especially considering the fact that this is a time share property. The staff were wonderful and the location was convenient to everything, French Quarter, Bourbon Street, The French Market and Harrah's casino. I was fortunate enough to have been invited by two dear friends and I am so happy that they did. I had a wonderful time and would recommend this property to anyone.

This property was originally built in the 1800s as an apartment building. As such, all units are different but all include a kitchen, bath and sitting area. It is NOT a resort and NOT a 5 star. But it is a good bargain. The decor is more like a budget motel, but the room space and the location is great. They do have a two bedroom, two story suite that could easily sleep 8 or just the 4 of you enough room to enjoy your own space. And it was only $300, the price we were paying elsewhere for one room. Decor is mid 1980's and a bit tired. I thought the two one-bedrooms on the first floor (rooms 101 & 102) were nicer, though smaller. They are not connected, but both open with french doors onto the patio/pool that is shared by the hotel. It is really a nice courtyard reminiscent of the old NO homes. There is no room service, and no real lobby. This is the place you want to stay if you want to feel like you have an apartment close to the French Quarter and want to save $.

Room Tip: Choose rooms 101 and/or 102 which have french doors that open to the pool and patio.
