We stayed at the Balcony Guest House during our weekend trip to the 2013 Essence Festival. At the time of check- in we were greeted immediately by Zak and the downstairs crew offered to take our bags up to the rooms. Check in was smooth and we were able to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the neighborhood while drinking a glass of complimentary wine. The neighborhood is quiet and is a great escape from the French Quarters. You are within walking distance of the French Quarter and you have bars and restaurants along the route. The restaurant downstairs has killer food and drinks as well. Steve the bartender was great! He surely knows how to make a drink that will definitely knock you off your feet! The neighborhood is quiet and we did not hear any street traffic while sleeping. I just can't say enough about our stay. My husband and I are already planning another stay at the Balcony Guest house.
