“Best place to stay in New Orleans”
Reviewed 14 May 2010

There are so many great things about the 5 continents b&b, I don't know where to begin! Jesse is a fantastic host who makes you feel at home and gives you the best tips about places to visit and eat, his two cute cats that try to slip into your room, the superbe hot breakfast each morning which keeps you going untill the evening, the beautiful old house, the perfect location near the centre but quiet and peaceful,...

We stayed in the smallest suite, the Asian, and it was very comfortable and affordable. There were complimentary drinks in the fridge, really practical. There is free off-street parking. It's just perfect, we hated to leave...

From the moment we arrived we were treated like family (okay, so the way family SHOULD treat each other...!). The restored old-world mansion is spacious, comfortably elegant and felt very much like a home away from home. The location is perfect - close enough that we walked to just about everything, and far enough from the raucous, sleazy Bourbon Street (sorry if that's your thing, but I found it disgusting) to make me very happy. As nearly everyone else has mentioned here, our host, Jess, is amazing! He was so welcoming and helpful, giving us excellent recommendations for restaurants, music, sightseeing, and he cooked a fantastic gourmet breakfast for us every morning. We will certainly return to New Orleans, and the 5 Continents Bed and Breakfast will be the only place we'll consider staying. Can't recommend it highly enough.

We came to new orleans in december 2009. We were at 5 Continents for 3 nights and did the Papa Noel package. It was great. Jess is an amazing host. We were in the North American cottage. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas as was the whole house. The breakfasts that Jess makes are wonderful. And he has great recommendations for both food and places to see. He went above and beyond as it rained a ton while we were there and he dried our clothes for us and gave us umbrellas. We couldn't have asked for a better host. We would definitely return here!

For our first visit to New Orleans we could not have found a better place. Jess made us feel welcome and at home in his beautifully holiday decorated home. Our suite, the European, was large, comfortable and very clean. The bed could not have been more comfortable after long days of walking. Jess had fantastic recommendations for restaurants and site seeing adventures. We were also happy to find two friendly and welcoming cats to remind us of our cat left at home for the holidays. Breakfasts were a splendid treat, well prepared and gracefully presented. Each morning was a treat for the taste buds.
We can't say enough about what a fantastic find the 5 Continents B & B was. Our first visit to New Orleans was so enchanting made even more special by the wonderful hospitality and comfortable environment Jess offers. We can't wait to return. Thank you so much for a wonderful and relaxing time.

Perfectly preserved antebellum townhouse with 14ft ceilings, 10ft high doors, original light fixtures (converted from gas) and a kitchen that produces breakfast of the highest order. We stayed in the cottage ("garconniere" ask about it). Very comfortable, beautifully furnished, own patio to sit and read. Very helpful and charming host who thinks of everything (he noticed we brought champagne, so he provided champagne glasses. I left my pyjamas, he sent them ( I had no idea).
So for an island of pampered civility away from the busy city, this is the place.

I feel as if I've just spent 4 days with a wonderful friend, who happens to have a gorgeous home and who makes the most delicious breakfasts. In fact I have, Jess Beaty is the proprietor of 5 Continents, which is one of the most comfortable and comforting places a person could visit. I felt so pampered there that it's kind of a let down to return home. You don't need to eat breakfast at Brennan's when Jess is around. The egg souffle with mushrooms and sausage is amazing... and Jess will give you the recipe! The beds are really comfortable and there is a little garden out back. Pay attention to the beautiful furniture, architectural details in this historic home and all of the items from Jess's travels around the world. I'm already planning my next trip to the 5 Continents.
