“Outstanding Hotel, Great Location”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

We love this hotel! The staff is wonderful and the remodeled lobby and rooms are fantastic. Over the years we’ve stayed at a few hotels in this general area, but now we’ve made this our hotel of choice for our annual group trip to NOLA. Even the people who come with us for the first time agree about the hotel. It is a short walk to the French Quarter as well as the street cars stops and other restaurants. Thank you Hilton Garden Inn staff for another wonderful stay, see you next year!

The hotel staff is terrific-helpful, very friendly and knowledgable about their city. The hotel is located a 10 minute walk from the french Quarter and only 5 minutes to the trolley line. The rooms need updating but they are working on that. had a great 3 day/2 night stay

I am a silver Hilton Honors member and benefits include 2 complimentary bottles of water. I did not get these on check in but since I couldn't exactly recall the benefits at the time, I ignored it. After looking it up, I did call later but it took them too long to bring them (in fairness, I only waited about 10 minutes) so I just left. Had to go on a run so really could have used those bottles. Plus, then I thought it was probably good I missed them because invariably I would tip the guy then it's not really complimentary, is it? Just have a stack in the lobby and dispense to the appropriate people.

Otherwise the staff was nice. Lobby is on the 11th floor so it is an extra step in the process if that matters to you. Elevators seemed reasonable in terms of timeliness. You need key access in the elevator to get to your floor. I don't have a problem with this (extra security) but you have to have your card ready before getting in and basically you only have a one swipe chance. The problem is, unless you are very deliberate about it, the reader won't pick up the swipe and then it's too late and the elevator is on it's way, usually in a different direction than you want. Apparently I wasn't the only one with this problem as I saw another guy struggle with it then get harassed by his wife. Kinda funny.

Rooms were nice. Fairly spacious I would say considering the downtown location. Beds were comfy, more than mine at home I realized later. I need a new mattress. Shower furnishings were a bit dated and the shower was kind of weak, even on the "hi" setting but still adequate. Otherwise things were clean and the rest of the decor was nice.

Also included were a mini fridge, microwave and K cup coffee maker. The TV frequently sputtered every few minutes, presumably due to a poor satellite feed. Not that I was in the room much in New Orleans but whenever I was watching TV, it was a bit annoying.

Rooftop pool seemed nice but it got cold later in the stay so I didn't go. Also had some colleagues check out the gym and they said it was fairly small in case you want to burn off those beignets.

Overall, a decent stay with a few hiccups. 2 doubles ran about $210 including all taxes so pretty reasonable. Would stay there again but will make sure I remember the water next time.

Thanks for your review! We appreciate all the details even when it gives us opportunity to improve.

First, let me thank you for being a loyal Hilton Honors member. I am so sorry that we did not include your complimentary waters at check in as that is part of our process. Thank you for bringing it to my attention so this can be addressed with our guest service team.

We're so glad you enjoyed our staff and guest rooms, especially the bed. Hopefully you'll visit us again the next time you're in New Orleans.

Warm Regards,
Kristi Taglauer, General Manager

Nice, quiet and safe location for the hotel and very near the French Quarter. It is only a couple blocks from Bourbon Street and a Starbucks, if you are a coffee drinker. Easy walk to any place in the French Quarter, Jackson Square and several running routes are available from this area of town.

This was a great choice for our vacation in NOLA! The location is great (only 2 blocks from Bourbon Street), allowing us to walk to virtually everything we wanted to do in the downtown/French Quarter area including heading to the Pelicans game, exploring Bourbon street and enjoying dinner at Emeril's. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the bed was amazingly comfortable. We only had one minor problem with our room not being cleaned before returning from a morning outing, but it was quickly resolved after talking with the Asst. Front Desk manager.

The only thing to be aware of is that the restaurant is not open on Sunday evenings, so if you arrive on a Sunday you'll have to grab dinner elsewhere (unless you want to do room service). In any case, this is our top choice for lodging for any return trips to NOLA!

Two blocks away from Bourdon with great hotel staff and very clean, spacey rooms. We were here for Halloween and had a great time with awesome access to our hotel. I will definitely stay here again...no doubt!

I've stayed at this property many times and have never been disappointed. If I run into a minor issue it is promptly resolved. Beds, decor, restaurant, etc. all follow the HGI standards.

The location is terrific and the staff couldn't be friendlier.

I love their rooftop pool. Although small it's always clean and offers great views of the city and plenty of seating to just hang out and enjoy the weather and scenery.

Be sure to ask for an outside facing room though otherwise your view is of someone else's room.

Room Tip: Ask for outside facing rooms.
