Location: the neighbourhood is a residential street with typical French Quarter Buildings. It’s generally a quiet street, but you still get noisy people on the road now and again, and as the building has thin walls you can hear everything that’s happening outside. We stayed in the Marie Laveaux Annex and had a room facing the road, so it was probably more disruptive for us than it might have been for other guests. It’s about 5 minutes walk to Bourbon Street and close to many tourist sights, restaurants and bars. We were staying here during the French Quarter Festival (fantastic!) and it was close to the action but far enough away if you wanted to get away.

Accommodation: We stayed in a room with king bed in the Marie Laveaux Annex. The room wasn't exactly spacious, but big enough for us. The room was clean, nicely decorated and had a luxurious feel. It was a bit dark as the window shutters were permanently shut, but I understand that it’s necessary to keep the room as quiet as it can be. The bed was very comfortable and we slept okay, though occasionally interrupted by noise from the street. Water pressure and temperature in the shower were acceptable. There was a nice courtyard which was lovely for having breakfast and having a drink. One night some guests gathered there and some Swedish guests played live jazz music on their instruments. It was like an impromptu neighbourhood party and a lovely atmosphere.

Reception staff were generally helpful, but not always there when you needed them.
Price was acceptable considering it was French Quarter Festival and most other hotels were charging crazy prices. It was also nice to stay in a characterful building in the French Quarter rather than a bland chain hotel.

We would recommend Inn on St Ann to others and would certainly consider staying here again if we should come back to New Orleans in the future.

We stayed in the one bedroom queen suite in the Marie Laveau annex during JazzFest. The room was spacious, clean, convenient, and a very good value for JazzFest week. It was half a block away from a bus stop which went directly to JazzFest and only a couple blocks away from the French Quarter which made it a quieter choice. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was large and nicely remodeled. My only complaints are that the floor was noticeably crooked and the building smelled a little old and musty.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms are not a good choice if you can't do stairs.

Room was a bit small, but definitely clean and comfortable for a place to rest your head at night. The rooms in the back by the courtyard are the best location. Courtyard was pleasant. Close enough to quickly walk into the activities of the French Quarter but far enough off the "hub-bub" to leave any noise behind. Definitely will return on the future.

The Inn on St. Ann was just a terrific place to stay for us. I was a little worried about the room being too small and having no window, but even with a king-size bed it was spacious enough and felt fine. Bed extremely comfortable, everything was very clean. We were downstairs right across from the coffee/fruit and except for some guests who were a little loud one morning( not realizing that there were rooms right there) it was quiet.
All of the staff people were super nice and helpful about how to navigate the city. Loved the location for checking out French Quarter, Frenchman Street... We were there for the Jazz Festival too and the bus stop was right at the end of the street so it was so easy to get there and back. Also, Armstrong Park is beautiful and has some really interesting sculptures. Happened to go there on a Thursday and caught some great music (part of the Treme festival).
We would definitely stay at the Inn on St. Ann's again.

If you are looking for simple place to stay in a great location that is very reasonable rates, then I would recommend St. Ann's for the visitor to New Orleans. The location is three block from the noise and active of Burbon St. but far enough away to be quiet and set in a residential neighborhood that felt very safe. The bathroom was a good six and had quality amenities. The bed was very comfortable and the room was kept clean and tidy every day. Beware thought that there is no elevator and the stairs are narrow but otherwise, it is a great place to stay.
