Hotel Indigo New Orleans Garden District

Boutique hotel on St.Charles allows you to explore and enjoy New Orleans from a perfect location. The streetcar picks you up directly in front of the hotel and in a fun 15 minutes you are on Bourbon Street. Step out your door and walk the Garden District. Very helpful, friendly staff help make your stay enjoyable. A few minor housekeeping issues.

Room Tip: Rear corner rooms are very quiet.

On a recent road trip to Texas in August 2013, we visited New Orleans for the first time and booked the Indigo as we had had good experiences from other Indigo hotels. We were not disappointed and, in fact, we were extremely impressed with the location, décor and comfort of the hotel. Away from the main party district in the French Quarter, this Indigo is in the quieter Garden District but right across from a street car stop. The design touches in the hotel, from the reception area and other public rooms downstairs to the hallways outside the guest rooms to the rooms themselves more than make up for rather unimpressive exterior. We had asked for a corner suite facing the back of the hotel rather than the front and were surprised at how quiet it was on a weekend night. Room 501 had a very comfortable king bed with plush linens and the bathroom was large with a spa walk-in shower and Aveda toiletries. There's no bathtub here but we didn't really miss it; there isn't a refrigerator either (something we like to have when we travel.) However, everything was so clean and the decoration of the room so interesting that we overlooked those two negatives and were sorry we were only staying for that one night.

Breakfast vouchers were included with our stay; the small restaurant/bar is right at the reception area of the hotel with a view of picturesque Saint Charles Avenue. The breakfast was just ok; we would have looked for somewhere else local if we'd had more time. A note for travelers arriving by car: you can only valet park your car and that adds $20 a night to your bill but having seen the area surrounding the hotel and the lack of parking spaces, this service is worth the fee.

I'd highly recommend staying at the Indigo if you want to experience NOLA but also want a quiet, restful place to recuperate from the day's (or evening's) activities. Full of quirky design touches, like the table made of a tree trunk in the lobby, the hotel is a great place for a short stay or a longer one. We'll be back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel facing a parking area are quieter; the corner rooms seem to be bigger...

Reservation in the name of Ana Brao, room 317, from 8/27 to 8/30.
We left behind a purse with an ipod touch (my daughters) some chargers and personal items. We called the hotel and spoke to housekeeping. They acknowledged finding them on September 2, we gave them CC info to ship the items. So far we have not received the items. We have left numerous VM's to housekeeping, to Katy at services manager (2 VM's) and the general manager with no response. I need someone to get back to me so that we can get our belongings back, since it was acknowledged by the hotel that these were found. Honesty and little more of customer service would be nice.

We visited here for vacation in August of 2013. What a beautiful hotel. The rooms were very clean, beautiful and cozy. The bed was just outstanding as well as the bathroom. Loved the shower!! It is also perfectly located to hop on the street car and explore New Orleans. I really thought it was an outstanding value for the beautiful room we stayed in as well as the breakfast we had in the mornings. Our parking attendant was very helpful and just a great guy with some wonderful recommendations on what to do and where to eat while we were there. We just had two complaints about our stay: The first was the front desk staff. I called down there no less than 8 times and not once did I ever get any one to answer the phone. I had to go down both times I needed something (the housekeeping staff did not leave towels in our room for 2 days in a row). Also, we did not find them very pleasant to deal with. And the second complaint, albeit a trivial one, was the smell in the lobby. I am not sure what kind of air freshener they pipe into the lobby, but my husband and I found it rather revolting. Otherwise, we would absolutely stay there again. It was a fantastic location, overall great staff and a beautiful hotel.

Now my favorite hotel in NOLA.  Modern decor, but very comfortable.  It reminds me of Dream in NYC but with much larger rooms.  One of the largest bathrooms I've ever had in a hotel.  Good sleeping on this mattress.  The staff is very helpful and friendly. My husband complained of the wifi being slow, but I've had no problems.  Fitness room small but nice.

If you're looking for a New Orleans hotel that is not near the French Quarter or the CBT, I recommend this hotel in the Garden District. Totally different atmosphere in the Gardens; still enough bars and restaurants to go to. Easy access around town via the trolley that runs along St. Charles Ave. The room decor is revitalizing, unique, and interesting. Room layout is very good. Shower is amazing ; good water pressure and temperature. Car valet is 24 hours a day. Hotel staff are competent and friendly. If you are tired of the same old look and feel of most midrange hotels, I recommend staying in a Hotel Indigo for a refreshing hotel experience.

We've spent some time in New Orleans before but never stayerd at this property. Unlike some others in this great city, the Indigo was clean, comfortable and we would stay there again. Next we're down there we might stay a little closer to the Quarter, but this would always be a good back-up.
