This is a gem. An amazing collection of battle flags, weapons, medical kits, uniforms, personal belongings, letters, accoutrements and a wide variety of other items. They hold the second largest collection of CSA battle flags other than the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, Va. A nominal fee, good gift shop, docent tours available. Unlike the WW II museum . . . this museum is ALL artifacts where the WW II is dominated by pictures. Right across the street, don't miss the best museum in New Orleans.

Right across from the WWII museum, its convenient to visit these two places together. The staff is very friendly and was able to answer everyone's questions. The admission price is very reasonable as well. One concern, there are no pictures allowed inside. You'll be amazed at how some of these old uniforms and flags were put together and are still holding up. Anyone interested in Louisiana or civil war history has to stop here.

Nice small museum in an old building near the World War II Museum. Great place to spend a couple hours and learn about the war in a different light.

It was great to see a museum with so many Confederate items. They had personal items donated by family members following the war. There was a small video that highlighted some of the items and the people they came from. It is recommended for the Civil War history buff by a Civil War history buff.

Any Civil War museum is a great museum. The artifacts alone make this an interesting place. The video has chairs for 6 and cold beverages like water are sold for a cheap price. The items on display are 98% Confederate, alot of battle flags from La. troops. Had a nice display of rifles, swords and uniforms. About 1 hour is what it takes, then walk 2 blocks to the WWII Museum and enjoy. They should take the items from the Cadilo Museum on Jackson Square and combine it with these. I was looking for items on General Ben (spoons) Butler but could find none.
