A definite highlight of our New Orleans experience! Matt and Byron are passionate, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly guides. Paddling thru the bayou at sunset provided us with many lovely nature memories. Do this!!

Meeting people who are truly competent at what they do is rare, and such is the team responsible for the delightful experiences my wife and I had a couple of days ago with the company’s ‘Full Flavor of the Bayou’ tour. From setting expectations on their website, the ease of making reservation online, timely communications, pickup and drop off, the quality of the equipment - and concluding with the outstanding guides - all of our experiences were excellent yet low-key kind: The rare kind which comes with top notch quality. You will actually meet people who know, love and care about the ecology of the area and its deteriorating conditions, and are genuinely interested in sharing their expertise with you - in a leisurely and calm and safe way - A must, when you consider that you are at water-level a few feet from alligators, snakes and other wildlife. On this trip, these animals - often misunderstood and feared due to amplification of senseless dramatization — were discussed in a respectful, loving and non-feared way. I wish we had our sons with us.
For a few hours, you get you experience nature close and at first hand, and the guides make you feel relaxed and engaged. As a tourist on a guided tour, I sometimes feel like a head of cattle that must be stuffed with a bunch of senseless facts and tidbits — but on this remarkable tour Kevin and Matt helped us feel that we are not rushed through nature, but for a few hours, really being part of it. Thank you!

Ezra,
Thank you so so much for this eloquent review of your paddle with us! We do love what we do and are glad it came through on our trip. Having a respect for our natural places is high on our priorities and we love teaching others about what we have and what we are losing as well. Thank you again for the kind words and we would love to have you out again one day.

We were a youth group of 13 teens and adults. Kevin is a wonderful guide. He spotted lots of wildlife for us, told us about the history of the area, and gave us a great education about the plants and wildlife. We spotted a few alligators, snakes, turtles, and osprey. Kevin retrieved a rat snake from a bird house. Everyone had a turn to touch the snake while Kevin talked about it. The water was like glass reflecting the surroundings. It was a very leisurely paddle on a beautiful day. Everyone had their choice of canoe or kayak. Canoe & Trail was able to adjust the tour times to fit our itinerary. I would definitely do this tour again the next time I'm in New Orleans.

Thank you so much for this awesome review, James. Kevin is an awesome guide and we love having him on staff. Getting youth groups outside is what we love doing! We hope the rest of y'alls trip was as fun as this one.

Best decision of the trip! Our guides were knowledgeable & nice and they have a genuine respect for the land & the history. We saw alligators, turtles, frogs, and osprey. It was not too strenuous if you are worried about that. As much as a flat hike would be. If our trip was longer, I'd even sign up for the sunset trip to go out again!

Philly,
We are so glad you decided to join us on a paddle! We try our best to not paddle too hard so all can enjoy what the bayou has to offer. Let us know next time you come in town and we can hopefully get you on the water for a sunset paddle.
