Small intimate Italian restaurant over the Apple Barrel bar. Reservations recommended. Great cannoli with several choices of fillings, mussels in white wine, house salads, fresh fish cooked numerous ways. The wait staff very knowledgeable and will help with selections by giving honest opinions. Be aware that they only take cash or checks (and I'm assuming only local checks). There is an ATM in building. We enjoyed this end of town thoroughly, much more so than Bourbon Street. Great music scene also.

Come early and listen to great music while waiting.
Try the ocean sauce with the grouper fish... Definitely one of the best I've ever had.

Italian Créole cooking at it's finest. We had four different dishes and cleaned the plates. Very delicious. Deserts also very good, but not in-house, from a great bakery off Canal. Take cash, no credit cards. Seats 50. Above Big Apple Bar near Royal on Frenchmen.

This little gem could be easily missed, tucked in next to the Apple Barrel Bar. There is usually a wait because it is small. We visited this restaurant twice on our trip to New Orleans, it was that good. The sauces are the star here. You can choose your type of seafood (drum is the fresh local fish and is delicious) and then add the sauce of your choice. Ocean sauce seems to be the most popular with shrimp, crab, crawfish in a creamy sauce. You can also have it on veal, chicken or steak. I had the cannelloni combo -- corn and crabmeat on one and spinach and Italian sausage on the other. Both were covered with a creamy red sauce and parmesan cheese. I also had chicken Parmesan and it was tender and tasty with a homemade marinara sauce and lots of mozzarella cheese. The only reason I rated it a four instead of a five is because of the bread. It is a hard, dry toasted sweet French bread that is not up to the standard of the rest of the restaurant's food. Other than that, a visit to Adolfo's is highly recommended!

It would be easy to miss this place, tucked away above a cosy bar. It was busy but not unpleasantly so and service was good. There was a lively atmosphere and what looked like a good
mix of locals and tourists. The food was simply delicious, Italian with a local twist. The tomato pasta that came with the fish and meat dishes was amazing. I had the mahi mahi, Missy style and again, it was great, just spicy enough. My friend had Mexican chicken, also very good. The whole Frenchmen Street area is funky and interesting so make a point of visiting and check out Adolfo's while you're there.
