“Outstanding Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2013

Our group of twelve stayed at the Country Inn & Suites before we departed on a cruise and once again when we returned. The location of this hotel couldn't be better. We were within walking distance of Bourbon Street, Jackson Square & the French Market. If you needed something the hotel didn't have, CVS and Walgreens were close by. The entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They helped to coordinate our early arrivals, arranged our transportation to the Port of New Orleans, and directed us to some great dining establishments. The "Happy Hour" in the small, quaint bar was a plus. The free breakfast had a large number of offerings and was very good for a buffet style setup. We had a mixture of rooms, both suites and regular. Each one was clean, well appointed, and very comfortable after a long day of traveling. A great hotel to stay at while in New Orleans.

Arrived at this hotel on the 1st stop on our trip. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We asked for rooms next door if possible when booking. At check in the receptionist advised this was not possible but we would be on the same floor and as a consolation she upgraded one of the rooms to a suite! Rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast which is provided has hot and cold foods - enough choice for everyone and delicious. The concierge was very helpful, he arranged a great tour of the city for us and had good advice on the best plantations in the area. The hotel itself is in a great location, bourbon street etc. are all within a short walking distance.

Cannot fault this hotel at all! All of us thoroughly enjoyed the stay and hope to return!!

We had an excellent stay at the Country Inn & Suites. This hotel is close to everything. We walked everywhere (except the zoo, but the bus stop for the bus that takes you right to the zoo was just outside the doors). The staff were always pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and had fridges and microwaves. Free wifi and free breakfast which was repetitive but still great. Also, they had free 24 hour coffee and a filtered water dispenser. The pool was small but that didn't bother us too much. It was good enough to cool off and splash around a bit with our 16 month old daughter and only seemed busy certain times of the day. The hotel was also visually interesting and had a lot of character. Excellent value for the price. The little lobby bar was great and the to go bags (free apples, oranges, cereal bars, etc) in the morning were a nice touch as well. We would stay again for sure.

Room Tip: We stayed in 328, it had a great little nook where we put the crib so that we and the tv weren't...

Green Features: Would have liked to have seen some recycling bins around. I noticed at the little bar that all the beer bottles were just going in the trash.

The hotel location is great! We paid car parking for 2 days and didn't move it. We were able to walk or ride the trolley everywhere we wanted to go. I made reservations thru the hotel and asked for a room with outside windows. You have to remember that this is a renovated warehouse, so to get to our room, we went up stairs, down stairs then around a corner and back up stairs, when we got to our room it looked out onto Magazine St. with big windows, a very good surprise and it was at the end of the hall. Not super clean in corners or window seals, but overall would stay here again.

Stayed here because it was one of the cheapest available, and good reviews. It was a nice room, and the service friendly, but the breakfast was vile and over-crowded. Very good location if you want the French Quarter, and close to the trolley bus if you want to explore the Garden district.

Glad to hear you had a great stay, but sorry that it sounds like it turned into a bit of a trek to get to your room. I just reminded the front desk staff to make sure that everyone in that section of the hotel knows about the extra elevator that bypasses all those stairs! Thanks for sharing so we could work on communicating that better!

Our family stayed here on a last minute Saturday night booking and was pleasently surprised. Clean, friendly staff, good location sum up our experience. As others have pointed out the pool area is quaint, but small. Beds were comfortable and the breakfast was good and it was walking distance of plenty of reataurants and sites. Our suburban fell into the oversized parking rate of $34+ tax. There are plenty of other parking options in the area at $15-$25 a day if valet services are not required.

This hotel has a very good location a block and a half from Canal Street, which puts it an easy walk from the French Quarter. Gamblers will appreciate the nearness to Harrah's Casino. It is also close to the Mississippi, the Aquarium, and the three streetcar lines. The hotel is on Magazine Street, and the Route 11 bus with a stop a few steps away from the front door will take you to a funky shopping and dining experience on the edge of the Garden District, to the D-Day Museum, and to Audubon Park and the Zoo.

The lobby and public areas are very nice, plenty of chairs. Desk staff was pleasant and friendly, and check-in and check-out was fast and easy. I didn't get to use the small swimming pool, but it was very pretty with plants all around, and people seemed to be enjoying it. The included breakfast had a good variety of foods, some hot - not just pastries and coffee. I only ate there once, but I did enjoy it.

Unfortunately, my room on the first floor was far from the best in the hotel. It was next to an elevator - the elevator machinery was quiet, but the fellow guest using it weren't always. The window looked out on a back alley that was used for parking. Cars were coming and going until about 11PM each night - good thing I don't usually go to bed until after that. On several mornings, trash trucks arrived at 6AM to dump some dumpsters in the alley. There were some renovations going on while I was there, and one wall of my room could use a little attention. And my room was rather small. One saving grace was a pretty good bathroom.

I do get the feeling that rooms vary a lot in the hotel. The hotel was constructed by tying together a number of row houses, and I'm sure this created some odd nooks and crannies, I'm just sorry that I got crammed into one of the odder ones, and sorry that I didn't speak up and ask for a better room.

Room Tip: Try for an interior room or one up a little higher - there are courtyards, so even interior rooms pr...

I am glad to hear you enjoyed New Orleans. I am sorry that the room that you had was a disappointment though. We definitely always shoot for providing the best experience possible. As you note, every room is a little different within the property, so if there are any must have qualities definitely let us know ahead of time and we will do our best to accommodate those requests. Hopefully you get to return to New Orleans again soon, and can give us another chance to provide the type of experience we always aim for.
