After hearing so much about Lake Ponchetrane on the news, I had to see it. I had no idea how huge this lake is. No its not a Great Lake but no wonder the city flooded. It would be scary to know this monstrous lake or bay as it is open on both ends, looms above you. We saw what a levee really is. I never really understood this concept coming from PA. When we left we crossed the causeway. Wow, 24 miles across. It was sunny but yet this body of water has its own weather. There were pockets of fog, clouds or mist rising off it. Beautiful.
