“Lake Pontchartrain”
Reviewed 12 January 2012

Take the bridge, 26 miles long!! It is $3 if you are going into New Orleans, nothing if you are heading the opposite direction. Try the Broken Egg in Mandeville, then drive or walk to the Lake. Lovely

Lake Pontchartrain is a HUGE lake. The drive over the bridge is really cool. You have to do if you want to get anywhere so enjoy the ride.

Whether you like to sit by the sea wall on the New Orleans side of the lake or dine at one of many eateries on the north shore, Lake Ponchartrain is very relaxing and enjoyable.

“It is a big lake”
Reviewed 1 January 2012

Take the Causeway and you drive 26 miles across the lake. We use to shrimp, fish, crab, sail, and swim in the lake years ago. It got polluted and we quit going in it. They are still trying to save the lake. You can still fish and troll for shrimp in the lake but I wouldn't swim in it. It is cloudy and dirty. It scenic to look at it and we cross it every time we go to New Orleans. It is nice to sail in it,

“Interesting drive!”
Reviewed 22 December 2011

Even though it is no longer the longest bridge in the world, driving over the causeway is a great way to see Lake Ponchatrain. The beter think would be by sail boat!
