If you want to learn about true New Orleans culture do not miss the opportunity to visit this home museum. The $8 entry to support this museum was worth every penny. Our host was Ms Anita who was very friendly and passionate about her familys collection of artifacts. The detail in the hand beaded costumes were amazing to look at and the history behind each one was interesting as well. She showed a video of a funeral parade and explained what was involved in having one. She even had photos of a gentleman who asked to be standing up....at his wake! I love finding places like this when traveling. Talking to people who have lived there their whole lives and having just a glimpse of their insight is what traveling is all about.
