I met with some great friends for a Bachelor party and we went out with Markham. The trip was amazing, we all landed multiple huge reds, some of which were landed by the bachelor himself on an 8 wt fly rod! I think its safe to say the guys on our boat had sore forearms for a few days just from volume and size of the catch. If you're in New Orleans and dont go with these guys, well you might just be missing out.

Markham is first a really good fishing guide but then again there are many that can put you on fish. He does that well and makes it seem almost effortless. Catching fish is the primary objective and important but it is from that point on that Markham far exceeds others.

He understands that the trip is about the experience of being there. It's about enjoying the beauty of the water and wildlife. He is not on a schedule other than yours. If you are done then he is done. If you want to fish longer he is certainly in for that.

It is obvious that he is passionate about fishing and helping people catch fish but his understanding of the bigger picture is what creates the atmosphere of the great fishing experience.

When the boat arrives at the slip, the photos are taken and the fish are cleaned the experience is not over. If you like he calls a friend's restaurant, makes a reservation for you and they cook your catch artfully.

If what you want is to go catch your limit as fast and possible and be done Markham will make that happen conditions permitting. If you prefer a great fishing experience then you are playing to his strong suit and he relishes it like only someone who loves their job and is passionate about it can.

Good fishing.

Everything top notch. Capt. Markham has real knowledge of the waters and the fish. If you are a beginner, he has a quiet easy way of guiding you through the hooking them and reeling them in. We had a beautiful spring day, calm seas, and caught so many fish. I love to look at the pictures and remember the excitement. I'll be back again next year. Just being out on the water was wonderful, and the fishing was excellent. Loved seeing all the wildlife when we went out and in the bay.

Me and my girlfriend went out with captain Markham in october 2013 and we had an awesome day on the water. A lot of speckled trout, nice reds, white sea trout, some black drum and sheepsheads, just great fishing! Even my girlfriend who isn´t so much into fishing had a great time. Great captain, well equipped boat, perfect service! Highly recommendable!

I went fishing with Salty Dog Charters two years ago. We went out the MRGO and around the newly constructed closure and into the bay. Stopped at a rig and fished a bit, nothing! Not even a catfish! No problem, we moved to another rig and got into some sheephead, big ones! We fished around the structure and found some specks and started catching them. A few more refining moves around the same rig and we found the motherlode! Every cast, and some really big ones too. We quickly limited out, and moved back into the marsh to try some redfish. We found some in a shallow area off the channel, and had a ball catching some nice reds there. We headed back in and cleaned the fish at the dock to the delight of the seagulls diving for scraps!

Markham was very helpful, but not overbearing. He is all about helping you catch fish, and doesn't compete with you. It's instantly obvious that he loves fishing and cherishes each moment on the water. His attitude is infectious, and you find yourself cherishing each moment too!

Had a fantastic time. Caught a lot of fish. Great value. Learned a lot. Very pleasant and helpful. I would go again in a heartbeat, just been too busy at work.
