Big Al Carson and the Blues Masters are hands down the BEST live music on Bourbon St!! The drinks are cold and the band is well worth the stop! Al, Harry & Harold are wonderful musicians and they always make the trip a great experience! They are the true meaning of New Orleans culture!

The FP is a great place to hear live music. The Lead singer (Patrick Williams) is awesome and excellent at playing the Harp. The best I've EVER heard. His voice is one of a kind! The band is freaking amazing......If there is ever a night to stop by to hear original Blues...Tues. & Wed. would be the nights!

There is a decent variety of clubs with live music along Bourbon, but we had to stop in here after recommendations and good reviews. We stopped in two different evenings, and found the Blues Masters performing both nights. They were a great band - very good music and good interaction with the crowd. Things to know - no cover (which seemed to be common among the clubs), but you were required to purchase one drink, (this is not common), but it could be a soda, didn't have to be alcohol. The drink prices were higher than other clubs, but not horrible. The place is on the smaller side, offering plenty of close seating at long table chairs, so you sit next to other folks at the same table, but it was no problem. This is more of a sit down club, not much room for standing. Was crowded the first night and not too bad the next. Just depends on when you are there, I guess. The band does come around with a tip bucket between sets, but it would be proper etiquette to tip any band that you listen to for a certain length of time. The service was somewhat slow, but very friendly. Walk thru a nice courtyard area to get to the bathrooms. Bathroom was AOK.

The Funky Pirate is a good little bar to listen to music and have a drink (or 3). We had hand grenades from here (just to try them), and they were fine. We also went here to see Big Al and his music is great. Watched another music duo and they were good too. Nice bar to hang out in.

I found Big Al at the Funky Pirate some years ago. I've been going ever since. I spent my 40th b-day, so now it was my wife's turn. Her BIG 40. Her first time to New Orleans. The night couldn't have been better. The music was great! Big Al sang her Happy Birthday. The beer was cold although some complain, $4.50 for 16 oz draft vs. $7 for a 12 oz bottle elsewhere that may or may not be cold..... you do the math.

Great music, great service, great place!!!!!!
