“Authentic New Orleans, great people, great location.”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

Five of us (male, mid-20s) stayed here for a week and couldn't be happier with the setup.

It's a big old house right in the middle of the Faubourg Marigny neighbourhood (next to the French Quarter). Great vibe in the area; lots of 20s-30s, arty hipster-types, plenty of good dive bars, restaurants and live music.

Easy walk to Bourbon street and Frenchmen street for when you want your "NEW ORLEANS!", beads and hand grenades time, but also perfect for hanging out with locals and seeing a bit of the city that tourists tend to miss.

The place has a big courtyard in the back, plenty of bathrooms, shared lounge area with tea/coffee etc, and all the WIFI you could want to google "happy hour specials new orleans monday".

We stayed in Old Europe (downstairs, with a private door onto the courtyard) and Cowboy (upstairs, with an ensuite), both of which came with huge beds, a TV and all the space you need.

Kim and Charley manage the property and live on-site. Up there with the most helpful landlords I've ever had. They're West Coast transplants, very chilled, available pretty much whenever you need them, drove us to the airport at 5am in the morning (for a small fee, much less than a taxi) and always happy have a beer and a laugh in the courtyard.

Creole was a great find, much more fun than just another hostel and perfect for groups/couples as you can book out entire rooms.

Room Tip: All rooms have a different theme, eg: cowboy, old Europe etc.

My wife and I came to New Orleans for our honeymoon and decided to stay at The Creole Inn. The service and atmosphere are top notch. It is close to everything but still far enough away that you can get a good night's sleep without a bunch of noise. Kim and Charlie are very nice and the perfect innkeepers. The value is amazing but even at a low price, they don't skimp on anything. We will definitely stay here again if we ever head back to NOLA!

Kim and Charley were amazing hosts and the room was beautiful! Really close to Frenchman street and the French quarter and not far from Bourbon either. Cab fares are cheap if you don't want to walk. We will definitely stay here again!!

While booking and reading the reviews I thought this place could not be that bad! However I was sadly mistaken upon my arrival. They not only did't have my reservation on file they also did not even have a lock on the door, the room had not even been cleaned. I had to wait in the front room while all this was going on. While I was waiting I walked back to the backyard where I thought was going to be a neat quit place to relax. Who ever owns this house is sure letting it fall down from the outside. The back of the house has green algae all over it, the little fountain with the rubber ducks what a joke! Needles to say spend the extra little money and be close to something to see or do. I did not have a car so getting from the house to the first trolley takes at least 30 min of walking.

We always want all of our guests to have the best experience. We also take all of our reviews very seriously. Some things are out of control, and some guests aren't used to rules, and they feel that they are above the rules of society. For example, Terrence was supposed to check in at 3 pm which it kindly states on his confirmatin letter, but he arrived 2 hours early unannounced so ofcourse the room was not ready for him. The cleaning crew was cleaning the room and changing the lock codes for the door. The Innkeeper kindly stated that he could wait in the lobby or patio. He chose to sit in the patio which is one of the favorite places of most of our guests. Sitting in the patio, Terrence was again not happy because the back of the inn was not freshly painted. Since then, the Creole Inn has proudly painted the whole back of the Inn and pressure washed the Inn and patio. Creole Inn goes above and beyond to make sure every customer is happy, but at the same time, we do realize unfortunately that some guests will never be happy no matter where they stay or what you do for them.

Our stay in New Orleans couldn't have been more perfect. The caretakers at the Creole Inn treated us like family. This Bed and Breakfast, with no breakfast, was very inexpensive. The value of the area is priceless. We parked the car and was able to walk to all of the key areas we wanted to go to. Frenchman St., Treme, and the local bars were all short walks away. Kim and Charley(caretakers) are great hosts. They are very knowledgeable of the area. The added bonus was the friendliness of all the people we encountered in the community. This will be our home away from home. Thank you so much for a great stay Kim and Charley. We feel as though we have found new family.

We weren't exactly sure what to expect because of the low price and good reviews, but we were pleased with our choice. The owners were extremely friendly & gave us a ton of information. Rooms are small but nice and enough room for 2. We were able to find free parking on the street in the neighborhood and were able to walk to bars and restaurants including Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter. Overall, a good experience and you can't beat the price!

It's getting to be a bit of a habit, coming here, bordering on the compulsive. So much so, that I've booked again for this September. That's how enjoyable it is!! And for the price, you can't beat it for value.
The Karma, the calm of the Inn, the innkeepers, the prime location for venturing out, to converse with the other guests outback in the courtyard. To pool a collective knowledge of what to do and plan the day, from other peoples experiences, over a morning coffee. We're still finding new places to try from others, even after all these years.
We were humbled to be introduced to Ray this time, when he popped around to the Inn. We'd only seen the 6" inch photo of him in the lobby and it was good to meet the man himself.
Not that all was perfect and went to plan, (and as a personal favour), the guest parlor computer in the lobby alcove, as on their website amenities, didn't work and has been out of action for quite some time, from previous reviews.
The air conditioning to the upper floor was defective for the last three days of our stay (these things happen), the contractor was due after our departure. It highlighted the point that it would have been good to have a ceiling fan to oscillate the air, as the turbo-fan in the corner of the room was noisy on full power, and didn't quite 'puddle' the air.
The main ceiling light in Memories is of very low wattage, and with the high ceilings the room looked dark. The bedside lamp didn't help that much to the main light. But there were 4 nice lights over the mirror in the bathroom. A couple of table lamps for subdued lighting, and again, highlighted the point that a good fan & light fitting as a main light may be beneficial.
The old TV/VHS combo in the room when converting from 4:3 to 16:9 widescreen ends up with a 12" inch picture, and difficult to see from the other side of the room.
The shower unit in Memories is somewhat 'slimline', and for the more modest of us size-wise, could do with 'super-sizing' on the next re-furb. I can remember similar, in some of the other rooms from previous visit here.
The main wi-fi went down for a day or two, until Ray rebooted and reinstalled the system. But the upstairs booster didn't communicate with the hub terminal throughout the fortnight we were there.
By all means, no place can be found without fault, but none of these points detracted from our enjoyment in staying here, and without hesitation led to my booking here in September, as well as, to express to others how enjoyable and beneficial this place is when planning a trip to New Orleans.
