“Inexpensive way to get around”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

We bought the multi day tickets and used the heck out of them. The tour guides were helpful and they offered walking tours as well. We did a walking tour of the Garden District and Philip was excellent. He stayed with us to chat while we waited for the next bus to arrive. They even directed us to the cheapest parking in town at the Basin Street Station where you can park for 10 hours for only $3.

“get the multi day ticket”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

It was worth having the multiday ticket for a few dollars more. We have used these types of tours before and know that you cant visit every attraction they bring you to in one day. Buses were regular intervals at 25-35 minutes apart. A little history and a nice ride around the city.

“Red Bus is Not Easy in the Big Easy”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

A great concept yes, and a tour I have taken in many cities, but the New Orleans edition has a looooong way to go. Stops are not well marked and hard to find. No protection from the elements at stops. No set schedule posted. They said about every thirty minutes but we waited forty five. No headsets with professional tour presentation (like London and Paris). Tour guide used PA system that crackled and could not be heard in the upper level. Lower level on had a few seats. Guide Presentations were not professional or scripted. Each guide made up their own spiel and personal political opinions, etc. Tree limbs hitting the upstairs railings. No warning about not standing up while riding on second level (these are small things that could save injuries). My feeling is this 1 1/2 year old New Orleans tour is on a low budget and not comparable to truly professional Hop On Hop Off experiences. They need to add more busses to shorten the wait times; install headset boxes on each row with professional scripted narrations giving accurate information; have operable air conditioning floor outlets upstairs; trim the trees back; post stopping schedule at each stop as xx minutes past the hour. The guides asked for tips at each stop -- this is not cool. The cost was $29 for one day and $39 for a week. One day is plenty for one circuit. The long delays between buses makes it very hard to see many attractions in one day. Standing in the hot sun or rain at a curb not knowing when the bus will come is nerve wracking. There is a trolley network that goes to most places for $3 (all day) or $1.40 per trip.

Emily V, General Manager at New Orleans - Hop On, Hop Off Tour, responded to this review, 15 August 2014
City Sightseeing New Orleans consistently maintains a 30 minute stop frequency, but traffic and other conditions my alter schedules from time-to-time. Mapping is clearly indicated, walking tours available seamlessly along the route. Guides are all locally licensed and experts in different aspects of New Orleans history and culture, one of the most attractive and interesting aspects of the sightseeing service. City Sightseeing multi-day pass offers a great way for visitors to become acquainted with the most historic important neighborhoods and attractions of the City, spend time at the locations of their preference, and enjoy discounts at retail shops, museums, restaurant and services all along the way.

“Easy way to get around New Orleans!”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

We bought a seven day pass to use just to get transportation around the area-not necessarily for the tours. We ended up getting wonderful information about the city and the state. Tour guides were great on each buss. One bus had problems with the mic and so our tour guide Randy just joined us on the top and basically spoke very loudly to make sure we could all hear-he was a great guide with a wonderful sense of humor. Tours had great information about the history of the town and state and also wonderful suggestions for meals-we ate at two of the places they suggested and were very happy with them.

Please note they run a specific route round and round so if you use it daily you will go by the same things over and over-which was fine because we used it to get to different parts of the city. Much cheaper than a cab and our feet thanked us for not walking! We just got on and off as we pleased!

“Takes up a lot of time - BUT informational”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We were in NOLA for a few days and I decided to do the Hop On- Hop Off because it was cheaper than the other modes of transportation. Plus, my son loves history and I thought I could accomplish two tasks at once with this bus. However, with it's many stops, it takes so long to get to the place you want to get off, we wasted about 30-45 minutes waiting on the bus at Basin St. Station. Then another 45min.-1 hour to get to the Aquarium on the bus. The time can really add up. The last day, we along with other people got to the bus stops by 4:30 as instructed and were told by the driver that she was on her last run. She made the other passengers upset because they needed to get off where their vehicles were located and they couldn't. The tour ended at Basin St. Station where we originated at, so we were fine. You may find that walking is actually faster and cheaper. Ask guests at the hotel, chances are they have already figured how to get to places quickly.
