Maison de Macarty has established itself as our go-to home away from home in New Orleans. While I could sing all the praises as everyone else has here regarding their amazing aesthetic, kind-hearted staff, perfect Bywater positioning and incredible breakfasts, coordinating our wedding on the property is (by far) one of the best decisions we've ever made.

I'm an event planner, and my husband is no stranger to throwing global events either, which led us to the decision that we wanted our wedding to be the opposite of what we experience in our day-to-day lives - casual, warm, with decadent food and drink, a low budget, and zero hassle.

In polite terms, we wanted the unicorn of weddings.

Yet somehow the staff of Maison de Macarty managed to transform our wedding into one of the most relaxed, happy and carefree days of our lives with their accumulative talents and steady yet unobtrusive event management skills. To name a few exemplary moments of our weekend:

The property was absolutely stunning, with no detail going unnoticed before the day of the event both inside and within the garden. Our relatives (many who do not travel often) were endlessly entertained and given helpful guidance regarding New Orleans by all the staff. Kurt was our shining star during the event, ensuring that everything was replenished and every guest felt represented. Each mornings breakfast felt personal and special. We kept catering in-house, and Curtis managed to make some of the most immaculate cuisine (and cake! oh the cake) that I've ever experienced at an event.

Most importantly, we didn't notice that an "event" was in progress - everything felt very natural and magical - part the mysterious powers of a property that always feels like home, and part the amazing host skills that Kurt and Warren both embody and surround themselves with.

Our wedding also ended up being under-budget - I will say no more.

In our opinion, there is no other place in New Orleans to stay during a visit, and especially to wed. Please give this gem a chance at the first available opportunity!

The best thing about owning a B&B is some of your guests turn into family. That's exactly how we think of you. Look forward to next time... Although... the Saints are going to kick the Titans all around the Superdome!

My wife and I stayed here, on two different occasions, during the weeks of Jazzfest. We stayed in the pool cottage first, and liked the place so much we came back a week later and stayed upstairs in the main house. Curt, Warren, Matt and Curtis make the place a delight to stay in, each performing different tasks that all combine for a wonderful ambiance. The rooms are comfortable, well decorated, and quiet. The beds in both our rooms provided for an outstanding night's sleep. Everyday's breakfast, prepared by Chef Curtis, was a morning's delight. The outside bar, on the back pool/patio area, was stocked with all sorts of beverages, liquors and beers-and all based on the honor system. Quite a cool offering, when returning from a walk in the neighborhood. We didn't take a dip, but the pool looked clean and inviting. The neighborhood, the Bywater area, is undergoing a dynamic resurgence. Homes are being remodeled, young people and artists ride bikes and walk the sidewalks, always with a friendly nod and a "hello". I am always taken by the friendliness in New Orleans, and I am happy to report the city has rebounded from Katrina. It's people like the Maison de Macarty owners and staff who are making this happen. Go ahead, pamper yourself...make a reservation and stay here. You'll be pleased with your choice. We certainly were.

Room Tip: Pool cottage is very neat!

Thank you for the review! I've said it before, return guests are always the best compliment we can get. Hopefully you'll continue to return, and that drink will always be waiting out at the bar!

Stayed at the Maison de Macarty, over a weekend, for a wedding two weeks ago (May 2014). Lovely poolside room. Great breakfast. Friendly hosts. Great location in good neighborhood. Loved the 'honor bar' too.

On April 29, 2014, Ron and I arrived at Maison de Macarty, along with our daughter Kathleen, son-in-law Mike, and friends Johnny and Lois for the second week of the Jazz and Heritage Festival. We have traveled the world for many years and never had a better experience in this type of lodging. From the moment we arrived until our departure six days later, we were surrounded by the most awesome staff ever. Curt was so charming and fun to be with,
whether greeting us for breakfast or joining us at the "honor' bar for drinks in the afternoon. Chef Curtis provided us with the best Louisiana cuisine every morning, which included Shrimp and Grits and home made blueberry muffins among other fantastic dishes, and Dr. Warren joined us for breakfast on our last morning.

Our accommodations in the Pool Cottage were wonderful and we loved that the room was located right next to a beautiful swimming pool outside our door.

Being located in the Bywater district, we were able to walk to dinner in the evening to several of the great restaurants Curt had recommended and would then walk home, stopping at a few neighborhood bars along the way.

On Saturday evening, before we flew home on Monday, we were entertained by Matt (Curtis' brother) and his friend Jeremy with a wonderful guitar playing gig out at the honor bar which lasted for several hours. What an incredible ending to one of the best vacations ever! Thank you Curt, Curtis, Warren, Matt and Jeremy for making memories we will never forget.

Room Tip: We would recommend the Pool Cottage for privacy and a secluded hideaway.

Just returned from NOLA and a stay at the Maison. The location is very convenient to the other neighborhoods (Marigny, French Quarter, etc.). You can walk to quite a number of bars and restaurants, or take the bus or cab to the Quarter or CBD if you like. This avoids the hassle of driving (can you spell DUI?) in NOLA, where for some reason my MapQuest app quit speaking to me, and where the streets curve around the bend of the River, causing one to constantly losing track of east/west/north/south (ask a native how they keep track; long story here, charming really).

The host Kurt was there to greet us and get us settled in. This involves a tour of the large garden (for an urban home) and pool area, plus the garden bar. Our room was nice (#3) with a king sized bed, quite roomy, with a large bathroom. Everything about the room and the beautiful old house was perfect, including linens, comfortable bed, and dressers to store clothing, etc. Even a closet!

Curtis the cook was on duty mornings, preparing tasty egg and pancake offerings that make the B&B experience more enjoyable than the motel/hotel experience.

Rather than go on about the house and garden, I will let the posted photos do that job. I would like to recommend a book in the B&B "library" that is definitely worth your time if you are interested in the history of the neighborhoods and their architecture: "New Orleans Houses; A House-watcher's Guide", by Lloyd Vogt.

Room Tip: #3 is an interior room, so possibly cooler and more quiet. Also quite large.

I would just like to say I have been to New Orleans many, many times. This trip was the most pleasant because I did not stay in the French Quater until the business part took over.

Outstanding service, Kurt was awesome and made me feel like I was a friend staying at his house. The grounds, food and rooms are all beyond my expectations.
I would recommend this to anyone who does not want the Burbon Funk , and dirty feet you get when staying in New Orleans.

I will go back and refer many!!! Thanks Kurt!!!

Room Tip: I was in room six and it had a great bathroom! Very cozy and charming!
