Maison de Macarty has established itself as our go-to home away from home in New Orleans. While I could sing all the praises as everyone else has here regarding their amazing aesthetic, kind-hearted staff, perfect Bywater positioning and incredible breakfasts, coordinating our wedding on the property is (by far) one of the best decisions we've ever made.
I'm an event planner, and my husband is no stranger to throwing global events either, which led us to the decision that we wanted our wedding to be the opposite of what we experience in our day-to-day lives - casual, warm, with decadent food and drink, a low budget, and zero hassle.
In polite terms, we wanted the unicorn of weddings.
Yet somehow the staff of Maison de Macarty managed to transform our wedding into one of the most relaxed, happy and carefree days of our lives with their accumulative talents and steady yet unobtrusive event management skills. To name a few exemplary moments of our weekend:
The property was absolutely stunning, with no detail going unnoticed before the day of the event both inside and within the garden. Our relatives (many who do not travel often) were endlessly entertained and given helpful guidance regarding New Orleans by all the staff. Kurt was our shining star during the event, ensuring that everything was replenished and every guest felt represented. Each mornings breakfast felt personal and special. We kept catering in-house, and Curtis managed to make some of the most immaculate cuisine (and cake! oh the cake) that I've ever experienced at an event.
Most importantly, we didn't notice that an "event" was in progress - everything felt very natural and magical - part the mysterious powers of a property that always feels like home, and part the amazing host skills that Kurt and Warren both embody and surround themselves with.
Our wedding also ended up being under-budget - I will say no more.
In our opinion, there is no other place in New Orleans to stay during a visit, and especially to wed. Please give this gem a chance at the first available opportunity!
