“French Quarter Charm”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2013

I was looking for a French Quarter hotel in safe walking distance to Jackson Square, restaurants, sights and this fit the bill with location and price. Ask for a renovated room as they still have many to do. As in older hotels (NYC, San Fran, Paris), the rooms are small but nice. The shower is small but new as are other other fixtures. I had Room 134 on the 2nd floor. Troy and Murphy were terrific on the front desk, with check-in/out, directions, information. John helped with luggage. Labrina has continental breakfast and good Community coffee ready. Breakfast is fresh assorted doughnuts and bagels so head out to The Grill (formerly Camellia Grill) or for beignets if you want more. If you want a Hilton/ Hyatt- type hotel with those amenities, go there. If you want FQ charm, try this. I loved it and would stay there again. Major remodeling is in progress. I took a cab from the airport and that was quick and worth the fare. There are two cottages across the street, part of the hotel, that are "suites" with LR and more space and with one BR. Those looked nice as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room. 2nd floor was nice and quiet. Older hotel so not completely soundproof b...

The Hotel St. Pierre is a unique property made up of old Creole cottages around courtyards; some with small pools, others with fountains. Some of the cottages are across the street from the check in. This property will give you a real French Quarter experience and isn't that why you booked it?

Our room was across the street from the lobby through an ornate iron gate (locked at night) and down a old brick walkway.

The hotel it undergoing renovations. The main lobby and breakfast room is apparently temporary and is not very attractive. The breakfast is very basic, biscuits and donuts. We had a coffee maker in the room so we brought the food back to our room. If the weather is pleasant, the courtyards would be very nice for a snack or breakfast. Most of the courtyards had iron table and chairs.

I can understand the diversity of reviews, some good, some not so good. Our room was 208 which was mentioned in an earlier review. It is on the ground floor of a two story building down a walkway past other cottages. It has a full size bed and a single bed in a alcove off the bedroom. Our room was booked through a travel agency as part of a cruise package so we didn't know what hotel we would be getting. I asked for a queen bed which they did not have available on that day. Murphy, the front desk clerk suggested this room instead. The beds have new mattresses and was very comfortable. The TV was a flat screen, the bathroom was adequate. The hair dryer was hanging in a bag on a hanger in the closet. Don't be put off by the front door which is the French style double door with glass on top. There are curtains over the glass. The old fashioned lock was loose was it closed and locked okay.

Although I was told there was wi-fi, it only worked in the lobby. The late night desk clerk thought it worked throughout and said the router was reset, but the next morning the desk clerk said it did not work throughout the complex because of renovations. It would be helpful if management told the staff the truth instead of making false promises about the wi-fi. I think the renovations are an excuse. If you say you have wi-fi, get it fixed for the entire complex.

The windows were open in the area under construction which I think will be the new breakfast area. It looks like it will be very nice. There are designs of the new spaces posted in the lobby. It looks like they have a ways to go. Renovations have been discussed for several months now in these reviews.

The only ice machine is across the street from our room so it was a long walk especially using a cane. Bring your key so you can get through the locked gate back to your side of the street. The vending machine only takes crisp dollar bills which the front desk did not have. Many of the food items did not have prices and the machine wanted exact change. We ended up going to the corner grocery for snacks at the suggestion of the clerk when we tried to get dollar bills.

As many have mentioned, this is not a franchise hotel with every room alike. I think each room is unique depending on what building you are in. If you are open to a unique experience and want to be surrounded by the French Quarter with its rich culture and history, give this hotel a try. It is a 7 block walk to Jackson Square, Cafe Du Mode and the ticket office for the Hop On Hop Off bus. Bourbon Street is a mere 2 blocks away. Eat, a nice restaurant is only a block down the street on Dumain. You will not easily forgot you stay here.

Room Tip: If you have mobility issues on uneven brick ask for a room closer to the street. If you need ice, as...

When we first arrived, the concierge, who was a big rude to begin with, placed us in a room across the street. The room, 208, had an odd smell, but we settled down and decided that it was somewhat quaint. After an hour of trying to get the wifi to work, we realized that the heater wasn't working, and since it was 35 degrees outside, raining, and our door wouldn't shut, we decided to change rooms rather than freeze. We called the concierge, and he instructed us to come back to the front desk. We did so, he apologized about the room, and gave us vague directions to the next room. My boyfriend ran through the rain looking for it, but we were very turned around with the arrangement of the rooms. We went back to the concierge, hoping maybe he would guide us. Wrong. He stayed behind his desk in his warm room, and have us the same directions yet again. We eventually found the room, room 102. Being cold and wet, we were trying to make our dinner reservations, so we thought a blow dryer would be our best option. Well, there wasn't one. And the wifi still didn't work. The next morning, children were running the halls at 8am breaking glassware and such. This was the most miserable hotel experience I have ever had. I had hoped to tell the concierge my concerns that morning, but the new man did not speak to me until he said "Thanks for staying." and went back to watching his TV show with his friend. Needless to say, I will not be back. This was the lowest point of my birthday.

We arrived late at night & had did difficulty finding our room (the shutters were closed), but once inside the beds were extremely comfortable! The area is quiet, the location good & staff were nice. Don't do breakfast here - it needs a lot of work!

Great location near all the good restaurants and attractions.
Nice little patio and OK room.
Some construction going on. May be quiet when done
Extremely basic breakfast, not good. Better to go somewhere else for breakfast.

St. Pierre is a beautiful hotel located in the French Quarter! The service we received from Murphy was absolutely amazing! He was so helpful and accommodating. Such a wonderful experience to meet such a caring and customer service oriented young man that cares deeply about his guests' experience! We visited the hotel when they were going through renovations so we were not able to experience the entire hotels' charm unfortunately but it was a beautifully kept hotel! Thank you so much for a great stay!

Visited here several years ago and the room was very old and dank, was one of the prior Burgundy hotel rooms. Was somewhat reluctant to give it another shot, but husband said lets, due to the reviews and reports of restoration. We were very happy with our room which was on one of the courtyards, connected to the office. Would consider this hotel again in the future.
