The room was clean and suited our needs for this trip.

Beds/pillows were uncomfortable, floor was very squeaky, room, bathroom, and shower were small, room smelled stale, tv reception was snowy, it was loud from outside noise (ferry horns all day and night) and the "seating area" in the room was laughable - one of the beds was pressed up against the chairs so you couldn't even get to it. Also there is only one tiny elevator for the entire hotel.

It's probably an ok place if you want no frills, but we have stayed in MUCH nicer places in New Orleans for a better price.

Stayed at Bienville House March 16-18, and they were booked for the next few days so we actually switched hotels. I wish we didn't have to switch, I would have loved to stay another night or two.

I loved the room, we had one of the rooms with a patio and it was just beautiful and I loved having that big patio door open. It was romantic. The staff was very nice and helpful. The location was great. I would definitely stay here again.

some more picky travelers may not like - the thin blanket, the room was a little bit stuffy so we kept the big patio door open at night, the tv was small.. that's all the "negatives" I could think of. Nothing major.

We stayed at the Bienville House from March 14-16. I would advise to get the king suite as we did. The room was a good size with a pull-out sofa (blow up mattress) for the kids. The only drawback is no windows but that caused us to sleep later in the morning due to no sun streaming in the windows. The hotel is small and the clerk, Cynthia, may remember your name when you come & go. The continental breakfast is small but enough to get started-muffins, bagels, cereal & fruit. The afternoon snack is usually cookies and lemonade. I saw posted before that the a/c was a little hot but we were here in cooler temps and didn't really need it. If it were summer, I may have been a little hot. Also, it's true that they don't have a many channels as home but this was not a big problem. I love the location better than hotels that I stayed in that were across Canal St. but less than the hotel on Burbon St. Otherwise, I thought this hotel was a gem and a bargain with friendly employees!

My husband and I just returned from 4 nights at the Bienville House Hotel, situated in the French Quarter right off Canal St. The room was small but very comfortable, and everyone there was helpful and friendly. Our rate included an adequate continental breakfast with good coffee (!). You can walk to anything in the French Quarter as well as the attractions on Canal St. Parking was $20 additional per night, but worth it, as we needed a car. We spent our days working for the St. Bernard's Project renovating homes struck by Katrina.

Good location, but parking is pricey and not always available, taxi's would be a better bet. Staff wasn't the most friendly. Sister hotel The Monteleon is the better choice. Not sure if it was the heat and humidity but our room never really felt cool, but we did get a fan from the front desk thet helped. We would like to go back but it will definately be in the winter!!!!

This hotel is very nicely located -- close to Burboun and Canal St, Cafe Du Monde, Jackson Square and the pier. Also fairly close to the aiport ($33 cab fare). The room was nice, with a great balacony looking out onto a small courtyard and pool. Very New Orleans feel. Only downside was the staff wasn't welcoming or friendly and were unable to offer suggestions of things to do when we had a couple hours to kill. If Bienville stepped up their customer service, this would be a fantastic place to stay!
