“Fantastic Location & Staff!”
Reviewed 5 October 2010

I would definitely book this hotel if you plan to visit New Orleans. You are within walking distance of all of the attractions.
In the heart of the French Quarter, my husband and I found ourselves just minutes away from Harrah's Casino, Grayline Tours, and Cafe du Monde...not to mention the dozens of restaurants around!!
You are also just a few blocks away from Bourbon Street without the noise.
We originally booked through AAA and got one of the last rooms, an interior King room with no windows, but were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded upon arrival! We had a spacious room with 3 large windows facing Decatur Street and the river along with the 4-poster Mahogany bed, wardrobe, side stands, and wardrobe. It was wonderful.
The staff was amazing and the private, valet parking made it a breeze to know our rental vehicle was in safe hands at all times (I was originally worried about relinquishing this during our trip). At a moment's notice, they will help load/unload your vehicle or get it ready for you if you want to come and go.
My husband's favorite part of the whole deal was the pool (even though we never swam in it) and the map that folds up and holds your room cards showing the downtown area.
We got quite a lot done in 2 days and the staff helped us make it happen.
My only downsides were: the pillows were too soft; the bathroom floor looked dingy; the tub dripped continuously.
Other than that, it was a fabulous trip and I look forward to staying there again!!

My wife and I, and two twenty-something daughters, stayed in sun terrace rooms (2) located on roof-top terrace. Nice to be able to walk out of room where there are tables in a semi-private, secluded plant-filled area. While the rooms were quiet and away from the activity on the street, four floors below, one of our two rooms had a strong musty odor, the carpeting was stained and the room was a bit cramped. They offered us a different room on the same floor but it also smelled musty - suspect old water leakage. We chose to remain in the room and they put an ion air cleaner in the room which helped but not totally. Its too bad that the room was disappointing because the hotel is located in a great and safe part of the Quarter, the staff could not be more helpful, parking is great and the hotel is charming and quaint. I would nonetheless recommend this hotel with the above caution. The city looks great, the restaurants are back, and they really appreciate the business. Go!

Charming, unique hotel, in the french quarter. Older, more Victorian, great gardens and pool area. Quiet, friendly staff, close to major attractions.

I am a local from New Orleans and my husband and I took a weekend trip for his birthday to be a tourist in the city. We had never stayed at the Bienville House before but we fell in love with it's New Orleans charm. It is a small boutique hotel that is very characteristic of a charming New Orleans home. it is perfectly located in the center of the French Quarter and is easy walking distance to many attractions. Our room was spacious and very nicely decorated and had a river view. Even though it was on a busy street it was very quiet. The staff was very pleasant upon our arrival and I am sure would be very helpful if we needed directions around the city. The only negative comment I would have to say is that the parking garage is very small but that is due to the limited space in the French Quarter.

Located in the southwest corner of the French Quarter, you're very close to Canal St. and the waterfront. I'm a walker so for me it was easy to reach any part of the Quarter from here. A few noisy clubs on the nearby street corner are annoying on weekends, but that's not the hotel's fault. Rooms are charming with high ceilings and lovely trim. We had a balcony room overlooking the street and fire department. Didn't have any food here, but the service was helpful and assisted with key updates, hailing transport, storing luggage, etc. My only complaint is that you have to pay for the Interwebs. Go to Dickie Brennan's Bourbon House up the street for oysters.

We travel to New Orleans quite a bit, and love it every time. On this past trip we decided to stay at Bienville House. I am not 21 anymore, but I still love to party, and this hotel was close enough to the hot bars and clubs, but just far enough to get a quiet sleep. Now anywhere you stay in Nola you have to walk or take a cab, so if you are lazy or do not like walking then don't come here at all. The Bienville House is a very quaint hotel with a lot of charm. It is a small hotel, I believe there is four floors, but there is one elevator. They have one outdoor pool, it is not new by anymeans, but it is nice. They had a nice continental breakfast every morning (toast, bagels, juice, coffee, cereal, yogurt..) Now you can go to their sister hotel The Montelon and have their breakfast which is AMAZINg try the grillades. : P yum yum. If you want cheap then go around the corner to Krystal Burger that is the best hangover fare. So when thinking about your next trip to NOLA think of Bienville, I swear it is awesome. It is on the outskirts of the French Quarter, so when you are ready to go home and pass out, you can with ease!

We made reservations for this trip in Feb. 2010. We arrived at the hotel first we were told that we did not have reservation. The desk clerk disappeared when she came back she said our reservations were for 10/02/10 and not 09/02/10. I was calling the travel agency when she said she could clear it up and there was no reason to call the agency. Again she went away on returning said it was a clerical error on their part. We did get a room, actually bigger than the average hotel room. We would go out for the afternoon generally returning around 5PM or later. Out of the 7 day stay there were 2 or 3 times the room had been cleaned by the time we returned. The last 2 days we were there no one ever came to clean the room. We had to go ask for soap, shampoo and towels. I was sitting in the hotel room alone one night watching TV when a mouse ran across the floor. There must be a mistake in the rating, what 3.5 star upscale hotel doesn't provide housekeeping and has rodents.

Thank you for taking the time to comment regarding your recent visit to the Bienville House Hotel.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the issues you reported. Due to your comment we have had ECO lab out to the hotel, as we have not had issues with rodents in the past. I also spoke with housekeeping to inquire why the room was not cleaned every day. When you post the “do not disturb” sign up housekeeping can’t come into your room. If you would like the room serviced that must be removed and they will gladly inspect it for you. Your comments have been brought to the attention of our Management Team for correction.

I hope you will reconsider your impression of the Bienville House Hotel and allow us another chance.
