“Great Service and Great Location”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

A group of about 55 of us were in New Orleans for a week during Mardi Gras, for a small convention. We all stayed at the Hyatt French Quarter, and ou rdaily meetings were held in the large conference/ball room adjacent to the lobby. The location and layout of the hotel are both ideal. The food in both Powdered Sugar and Batch Bar was great. However, the food that the hotel kitchen provided for our group's lunches and dinner was superb. Fantastic soups and salads, regional dishes, and creative deserts. In addition to the unexpectedly delightful food I have to mention the staff. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the bell, concierge, housekeeping, restaurant, catering and even the security staff were friendly, helpful, and truly welcoming. The Hyatt staff is what makes this hotel truly stand out. Our group will be returning next January and we will certainly be in attendance.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the atrium or pool if you desire quiet.

This hotel is in a great location in the French Quarter. Entrance on a side street that leads to Bourbon street. But just far enough away to take a break. The service was excellent, and Powdered Sugar was great. I would have enjoyed a Jazz combo in the lounge, but all in all the hotel was great.

We stayed at the HFQ for 5 nights on a recent trip to New Orleans.

We booked this hotel through Hotwire and received an amazing deal.
It ended up being the perfect choice for our stay in NOLA.
It is located on the fringe of the FQ. with one entrance off Iber st a block or 2 from all the action, and the other entrance being closer to the water.

check-in was friendly and efficient, with our request for a quiet room fulfilled.
The room was MUCH larger than we expected,
It had a very comfortable king-sized bed, a full dresser with mini fridge and possibly a microwave ( I can't remember for sure) There was a very comfortable and modern sectional couch with chaise lounger and a round glass table in the sitting area.
The bathroom was huge, with an excellent double shower. Great water pressure, and lots of hot water as is expected in a hotel of this quality.

Next to the bed was a fairly large alcove with a dressing table, and an area set back in the wall to store your luggage. This was an excellent layout as it kept everything neat and stored out of the way

Beside the entertainment unit with the large flatscreen TV was a double door-ed closet containing an Ironing board and the large safe.
the safe was big enough to store our cameras (DSLR's) tablets, phones etc.

Plenty of space for 2 people to enjoy a very busy week in NOLA.

The service was very good, and most of the staff excellent. Though there was definitely a noticeable difference in the day staff and the night staff service, which may explain why some reviews say the desk staff are great and some say it was cold and not very friendly.

There is an excellent restaurant called Powdered sugar on the main floor.

This place does not get enough attention. We ate at many of the "it" places including Mr. B's, The coffee pot, Cafet Beignet, Café Dumond etc. and we honestly can say the food at powdered sugar was as good, if not better than most of the other spots.

AND the prices were much better and the servings much more generous. With no line ups and other than breakfast on the weekends, it is very quiet. (though hopefully more people will discover this hidden gem and it will become busier!)

By the end of the week we ended up eating there for breakfast and dinner for a couple of days.
They had excellent gumbo, great jambalaya, and very good beignets. They were round instead of square, and small but my husband liked them the best of all the places including café Dumond, we had them.

The oatmeal for breakfast was excellent served with all the right fixings. Nuts, brown sugar raisins etc for you to add as much or as little as you pleased.

On the weekends they have a very good brunch with fresh fruit, grits, eggs bacon, sausage, pastries etc etc. It was very popular.

Even if you are not staying in this hotel, give Powdered Sugar a try. It is not fancy but it is great value and very good food.
If you are staying in the hotel, don't over look this best kept secret. Your taste buds and pocket book will thank you!

The hotel was full on the weekend, with a little more noise, but certainly nothing that disturbed our stay.

We really enjoyed our visit to NOLA, and loved having a great room, with good service and a nice quiet place to eat to get away from the crowds when we wanted.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel over the NBA All Star weekend. The location is perfect for spending time in the French Quarter and a very easy walk to the casino, river front, and high end shopping.

The hotel staff was very friendly. We arrived at 12:30 and were allowed to check in early at no cost. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. And it seemed quiet inside despite the crazy noise out on the street.

The only draw back was that they do not have free Internet access in the rooms. Also the charge $4 for a bottle of warm water in the room, but if you walk down the hall to the vending machine you can get a cold bottle for $1.50.

The hotel is situated at the corner of iberville and Bourbon streets with access on Canal St. We had a courtyard room which opened onto the pool area. Our room was spacious and comfortable. There is a cafe where breakfast could be purchased but this was expensive. Luckily there is an IHOP on Canal St. serving great breakfasts. We ate there one evening as well. There is no free wifi in the bedrooms but you can access it for free in the reception area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our friends stayed in a room opposite the gym and were disturbed by early gym users chatting and banging the gym door. Bottles of water in the room are charged for - $4!

Room Tip: A room round the pool area might be noisy in warm weather..

We checked into this hotel on February 4th, 2014. We arrived early.....around 1 and our room was ready. Check-in was quick and very pleasant. Room was very nice. Could of been a little bigger but it was still nice. Bed was comfortable, had lots of pillows! Lots of TV channels. Big bathroom with complimentary soaps, lotions and shampoo and conditioner. Room was cleaned perfectly everyday. We were there 4 days. It was too cold for the pool but the pool and area looked very nice. Bar was great..it opened at 5 and the bartender Patrick was super friendly and very personable. We went there a couple of nights. (only drawback was that the drinks were rather expensive). We had crabcakes also at the bar and they were excellent. There was a little cafe opened all day and evening and it was very good also. The concierge was very helpful in picking out things to do in New Orleans. Bourbon St. was only a block away and we could hear the music some nights. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a night after a long work trip and was very pleased. First: the location. Hyatt French Quarter is a block over from Bourbon St, and a block back from popular Canal St. It's central location made walking the French Quarter a breeze.

The staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful. Every single person we encountered from the curb outside to the taxi back to the airport asked if they could help with anything. And that is an incredible feeling after long days roaming New Orleans.

The rooms were well maintained. We stayed in a King Suite and it was enormous. Two televisions, an L-shaped couch, just a huge space. Very modern and new in spite of the outside of the building (and the buildings around it) looking a bit more worn.

Overall, great experience. Would highly recommend. Great value, great staff, great location.
