“Very romantic and charming.”
Reviewed 10 June 2013 via mobile

This hotel was quaint and romantic. It was old school and so charming. My girlfriend and I loved it and the staff was great. I will be back for sure !!! Make sure you hit the late night peanut butter and jelly buffet it's so good. The rooftop pool is great for chilling out and cooling down.

I will preface this by saying that I have been a member of trip advisor for over 5 years and never have posted a hotel review. Shame on me! I have often considered it, and have even took pictures of hotels we have stayed at, intending to post a review. I have used trip advisor extensively in planning vacations and choosing our hotels, and have never been led astray by the reviews. What has finally prompted me to write a review was the fact that Le Pavillon exceeded my expectations.

We arrived on June 2 for a five night stay. We had reserved 2 rooms, a king and two queens, and the second room was not ready, but it was only 2 pm, so it was early. Everyone was very welcoming, from the doorman to the front desk staff. After about an hour wait, our second room was ready.

The lobby was very beautiful, and there were paintings and antiques throughout the hotel that lent a grandeur to this historic property. We only visited the rooftop pool once, and there was also a small fitness room adjacent to the pool area.

We did walk to the French Quarter a few times, once at night. I did not feel unsafe at anytime, even though we were warned not to walk to/from the hotel at night. There were the typical homeless people that one finds in any large city, but we were not harassed by anyone. We did utilize the valet parking, as we drove to the NOMA and the Garden District several times. The valet was prompt and always had our car ready within minutes. The doorman was always present to assist us and to offer a smile and welcome us back.

We dined in the bar once, and the Crystal Room twice for dinner and once for breakfast. I realize that being in New Orleans we probably should have gotten out more to try the local restaurants, but it was convenient eating in the hotel. The weather was not especially conducive to walking (hot and rainy), and at the end of a long day it was nice to have a leisurely dinner. The drinks were fabulous, and the food was good. Dinner was not a rushed affair; our last dinner took 2 hours from start to finish, but we were not in a hurry. Of all the staff at Le Pavillon, our waiter, David, was the best. He was very personable and anticipated all of our needs. The chef also accommodated the two picky eaters in our group with relish, sending out a complimentary appetizer that they both enjoyed.

I was pleased with the cleanliness, size, and amenities of the rooms. Both rooms had small refrigerators and microwaves. The beds were very comfortable, with some sort of topper overlying the mattress. Usually hotel beds are too firm for me, but this one was just right. There were two robes in the closet, and one night when we were out, the turndown service came through and laid out the robes and a package of slippers, and left cookies and water. The only complaint I would have is the free wifi. In our king room on the 7th floor, it was very slow and there were frequent disconnections. In the double queen room on the 4th floor, it was slow, but service was better.

We are already discussing a return trip, albeit at a different time of the year. There is absolutely no question that we will return to Le Pavillon!

the service and great hospitality in this traditional French styled hotel was old world... just like the classic décor, which fit perfectly in this city. it turned into a great surprise and outstanding value for the week I stayed there on conference. while a little bit further from the craziness of Bourbon Street than some others, it was still walking distance to the French Quarter and the conference centre, and when you are eating in New Orleans it is welcome exercise. Staff was exceptionally friendly, beds were very comfortable, the rooftop pool and hot tub were beautiful, and their 10pm tradition of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and milk each night was one of the best things I've seen in any hotel. Likely to be my first choice on return to New Orleans.

Love this hotel! I come to New orleans at least once a year on my anniversary. This past trip we brought my daughter and her boyfriend from North Dakota. They said now we see why you always come here. The staff is very attentive, helpful and always friendly! They loved the roof top pool, especially at night, the view is gorgeous! It is within walking distance to Canal St., bourbon St., the French Quarter and Harrah's. we were even given a return gift which was a nice touch. Everyone had a great time and we are never ready to leave!

We found an incredible deal (under $100 a night) on Hotwire, so this added to our high level of satisfaction with this hotel.

It reminded us a lot of the Tremont in Galveston, and the old hotel rooms at the Fairmont in San Francisco.

Rooms:
It is an old hotel, so the rooms and bathrooms are a smaller, and the furnishings are older than what you will find at a chain hotel. However, they are immaculately clean with new bedding, comfortable mattresses, updated bathrooms and updated televisions, wireless internet, etc.

All of the rooms also appear to have two story ceilings and windows which add to the old glamour.

Location:
It is a bit of a hike (about 15 minute walk) to the French Quarter, but we realized we would have had to take a cab to all of the places we went even if we had ended up at the Ritz, Lowes, etc. So, the location was fine for us.

We did not eat at the restaurants, but the room service breakfast was fantastic.

The decor throughout the hotel is absolutely over the top as seen in many of the photos, but this is a wonderfully nice hotel with an amazing, five-star level staff.

Superb service, very well kept hotel considering its 100+ year age, wonderful tradition of serving guests peanut butter sandwiches and milk at 10pm. Great bar, great restaurant. Had a problem with the toilet and maintenance was at my door before I hung up the phone. Rooftop pool area is neat, with a fantastic view of the city. Definitely a great place to stay in the Big Easy.
