I read the reviews before traveling, and still booked, knowing that some guests can never be pleased. The room was immaculate, with fresh linens, towels and washcloths. The staff was perfection, going out of their way to be helpful. Perfect location, romantic ambiance, candles lit through out, friendly fellow guests. Fresh coffee 24/7, seemingly self-refilling fudge plate, wonderful elevator that can easily fit 2 guests as long as there isn't any 'ball room dancing.' Large grapefruit outside our window, view of rooftops out our skylight, romantic kisses up the ballroom stairway. Don't listen to the naysayers. This is a GEM of a find in New Orleans, one block off Bourbon! I will never stay anywhere else, and I am picky! Thank you Olivier! You made a honeymoon dream come true!

I've stayed at this hotel every single time I've gone to New Orleans for around 4 years now. I'm never disappointed. It's a great and quiet location in the French Quarter with a wonderful staff! They even tracked my phone down and recovered it when it was stolen!! I would 100% much rather stay at a family run, local hotel than a chain place where you get no connection to the staff or to the city. The hotel is beautiful and so very authentic to New Orleans. I wish everyone would stay here and experience my favorite little home away from home. I recommend this hotel to every single person that I can and you most definitely want to stay here.

Oliver House is a great place in an old typical French Quarter building. The room we had (301) was really nice and quaint. It was tastefully decorated and felt clean. It also had it's own balcony. The room actually matches the price. The common areas are quite small, though. For instance only six, seven people can sit in the lounge at the same time, which isn't enough for a place with more than 40 rooms. Especially since the fairly slow wifi only works in the common areas. When we were there the staff said that they had installed wifi in the rooms, but that never worked for us. The place is very close to Bourbon St, the main party street. There is no bar at the hotel, but that doesn't really matter since the closest bar is about 60 meter away. If you want to go to sleep before the party settles down on Bourbon St, you need ear plugs.

All in all, the place is a bit contradictory. The rooms (at least ours) are great and make you want to spend all day in them. But people hardly go to the French Quarters to stay in the hotel room all day. The common areas are too small to sit in if you are a larger group. That said, we loved the place!

This is an older hotel in the French Quarter. The location was great for us, just a bit off bourbon. I was worried it would be loud but it wasn't. It was exactly what I was hoping for during this trip. It was not musty (thankfully) but it is obviously older with charm. We giggled at times about certain older aspects (creaking floors, low water pressure, window ac/heat unit) but I am so happy we stayed here. It was quaint and cozy and the staff was very friendly. I enjoyed the experience instead of having the stereo typical chain hotel stay.

Just what you would expect at a hotel in the French Quarter. Right off Bourbon St. and all that means.
Exception staff with all the amenities + beautiful, quiet rooms. Love the courtyard. Convenient to everything.

Room Tip: We loved room 105............on the courtyard and pool, and on the first floor.

A beautiful hotel and a beautiful room right there in the French Quarter. Although it was an older place it didn't smell moldy or appear dirty. Nice folks at the front desk. We had a balcony room over Toulouse. To note- if you choose a balcony room over the street, bring your earplugs because it will be loud. But to me it was worth it with the view. You could always get an interior facing room and avoid that though. A couple things that would help- two bars of soap so we don't have to transfer one bar from the sink to shower, and a hair dryer in the room so we don't have to go get one from the front desk. I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Any room facing the street will come with a great view but will be loud, so plan for that.
