I have stayed several times at Olivier House. Just returned from a visit where I took four of my sons and a buddy who had never been to the French Quarter before (as a college graduation reward.) The rooms were great. Bobby and crew are always friendly and helpful. The reconditioning of the old mansion rooms is nicely done. And the location cannot be beat. As I mentioned to Bob on our way back home, I was glad to turn my boys onto a place where they can look to staying for years to come.

Room Tip: If, and when they have multiple room availability, the crew will allow you to look a several rooms a...

You won't find this gem on hotels.com or any other search engine. If you've stayed there before most likely you will call for availability. Each room uniquely decorated with antiques and layouts complete with refrigerators in each room and big fluffy towels. Cool wrought iron balconies (on some), cozy courtyards, sitting areas, and all general guest parlor with great coffee and tea/cocoa selections. Great location on Toulouse but only half block from where it intersects with the busier part of Bourbon street. Love the pool in the back courtyard. Warning though.. the rooms facing Toulouse Street get loud at night because of the clubs and crowds on Bourbon that echo into those rooms so ask for a pool facing or courtyard room. You'll feel like you stepped into a time machine.

Right off of Bourbon Street. This is a charming hotel. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We had to check out early and they called us on the phone and even offered us a credit for the night we didn't get to stay. They are very nice people.

As the other reviews state, this is definitely not a cookie-cutter, traditional hotel chain. It is truly a boutique hotel, but that's why I loved it. I stayed the week with some friends, and we felt like we were coming home, not to a hotel room. The place is not perfect and modern. It is historic, charming, homey. Our room had a sitting area with tv, bathroom, and kitchen counter at the bottom then a balcony with two twin beds. It was perfect for a girls getaway! All the time-period pieces and old world charm were fantastic. And you cannot beat the location truly in the heart of the French Quarter. They took our car keys when we arrived Friday afternoon and never needed them again until we left. Walking distance from everything, including trolley line if you going a little further.

I will start out by saying normally we stay in named brand hotels. This time we decided to take a chance on something with a little character. Well Olivier House did not disappoint us. It really was a great experience and we will more than likely stay there again the next time we go to New Orleans. The elevator was the greatest adventure ever!

The room we stayed in (RM 402) was very nice. Antique furniture decorated the room as well as the bathroom. The bed was AWESOME!! I slept great each and every night we were there. The shower was great too. If you are looking for a bathtub, there isn't one in this room which was just fine with me. The room had a coffee maker and a small fridge which was great for keeping drinks in since we stayed for 4 nights.

It is less than a half block from bourbon street and like everyone else has said you cannot hear the noise at all. The staff were all very friendly!!

Now for the cons, I will say we stayed during Memorial day weekend so I am not to upset about these minor things but I did feel they needed mentioning. The pool was dirty the entire time we were there and the last two days of trip there was some hose in it. For two entire days it did not move out of the pool. The other thing was the ice machine croaked two days before we left so we had to purchase our own ice from the grocery store.

Lastly, parking. They do offer parking for a fee (which is lower than most of the other hotels around) but if we wanted to use our car we were told we had to give several hours notice or even let them know the night before. So we didn't use our car while we were there which was alright, but it just seemed a bit inconvenient. Next time we will probably park in the public parking right around the corner. It might cost a bit more but worth having our car when we want it.

With all that said, I will definitely stay here again.

We have stayed at most hotels in New Orleans. We are going back to this one. Quiet, beautiful court yard, original! Location is perfect. The do not take advantage. Parking was reasonable . You won't regret choosing this hotel.

Room Tip: What New Orleans was like in the day.

This owner run property was a rare find. Located just a half a block off Bourbon Street this garden style boutique hotel offers location and solitude. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The half block made all the difference as there was virtually no street noise. The staff was very friendly and accommodated our every need. Will definitely return to this jewel.
