I don't care what anyone else says, this is a great property. If you want an authentic french quarter experiance, you will want to stay here. Every member of the staff is friendly and ever so helpful. Every recommendation by the desk clerks were great. The small lounge is quaint and both bartenders were a riot to talk with. Yes the rooms are a bit on the small side, but furnishing were of period and rooms were clean. Remember this place is 250 years old. On site parking is a huge plus, but there is charge. Can't get any better than this for location. Close enough to everything in the french quarter, but far enough from bourbon streets crowds and noise. Have stayed at other french quarter hotels and so far this is the best yet.

Was a bit nervous due to the 'history' of some ghostly visitors, but I had a brilliant time. I was in room 108 by the pool and it was a wonderful room. Great proximity to Bourbon St, and the French market is on the other side of the black. They don't have laundry facilities but there is a laundromat about 3 min walk away.
I didn't eat there, but I HIGHLY recommend the Italian Resturant on the corner. Irene's. Had an AMAZING Ribeye steak, very well priced and great ambiance.

Stayed here for 5 nights, August 2012. We had booked a standard room but were given a suite comprising a downstairs living room / toilet, and an upstairs bedroom / bathroom. This room was furnished nicely and seemed clean and comfortable however when we tried to sleep we felt very uncomfortable and switched the light back on to see cockroaches on the curtain pelmet. This was a bit off-putting to say the least and coupled with the fact that there was no natural light in the room, we decided to move. In the middle of the night. So that kind of tells you how uncomfortable this room was. We asked the night receptionist to change rooms and he was lovely and very accommodating, and changed us to another suite, this time all on one level.

We shifted our stuff and found that room to be much better - well no cockroaches at least. The room was at the front of the hotel and so had the long ornate metal balcony and green shutters which made it very picturesque from the outside. Inside however the room did have a slightly musty smell and the furniture was huge and a bit dated and creaky. It felt a bit like sleeping in a stately home. Which might be a good or bad thing depending on your taste! The worst thing was the bed which was extremely uncomfortable. It had a dip in the middle which meant we rolled towards each other - not great in the heat of the New Orleans night! The room seemed very clean but my husband did receive over 20 insect bites, not sure if this was a mosquito, a flea, a bed bug or what...

The pool area and courtyard areas of the hotel were lovely and refreshing, and very peaceful. The pool only had about 6 loungers but was never busy, so perhaps 6 is all they need.

Breakfast was bagels / bread / cereals / fruit / muffins / pastries / coffee / tea / juice - plentiful and fresh.

The location of the hotel was excellent - right in the heart of the French Quarter but not too near the noise of Bourbon Street - it was approx 5 mins walk to Bourbon Street but very quiet and peaceful.

The staff in the hotel were excellent. Best thing about it really. Every person we dealt with was very professional and efficient and most importantly very friendly. We felt welcomed and the hotel felt like an informal and relaxed place to be. Can't fault the staff.

I think the hotel is currently being updated and I think it really needs it. It also could do with a bit more pest control, although I guess in the New Orleans climate, roaches etc are to be expected.

If you go here then request a standard room overlooking the pool as they seem to be the most recently updated.

My husband and I came to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and would not change anything about our trip.

I found Hotel Provincial on line and read several reviews here on Trip Advisor and they were so right.

Hotel staff was all very friendly and genuine. Room was clean and comfortable with a cute little courtyard.

We are already planning our next trip and plan on staying here again.

We stayed in Bldg. 2. The hotel was very nice. Pretty, clean, quite at night, only a couple of blocks from all the action. 2 blocks from Bourbon Street, 2 blocks from Jackson Square & Cafe du Monde, and 1 block from the French Market. We walked everywhere it was so conveniently located. Pools were nice and clean. Secured parking for your car as well so you don't have to worry about it and a free continental breakfast to get you started. When we go back we will def.be staying here again. Oh and bldg 5 is rumored to be haunted. :)

Room Tip: We stayed in Bldg 2. Bldg 5 is rumored to be haunted.

We took a family trip to New Orleans. Hotel Provincial was in the French Quarter but away from the stereotypical Bourbon St atmosphere people think of there. Our small children enjoyed the "pretty" room, the pool(s) and even the continental breakfast. It would be nice if the food was changed a bit for variety but not complaining b/c it's a great hotel, with helpful and kind staff and at a great price. Be aware you are paying for nightly parking when you get there but you will do that everywhere in the French Quarter. It's just a lovely atmosphere to spend time in New Orleans.

Stayed here with bus trip. Found it comfortable, clean, & quaint. Older building that was remodeled someone back but remains a nice place to stay. Haven't seen a fuse box in a Hotel room in many years, this one had it. Beds comfortable, air conditioning excellent. Some old furniture should be replaced, one of two chairs had broken springs and we couldn't sit in out. The other chair was usable, but had a loose arm. Did have two dressers, but being older style the drawers didn't have sliders & stuck a bit when opening. Not a big issue, just added to the quaintness of the place. Pool looked nice and was used by many. Nice courtyard area with a fountain to sit in and relax. Breakfast in the bar area was ok, with, tight quarters, but doable. Enjoyed our stay
