My wife and I recently returned from a family event in New Orleans. Many of our family members decided to stay at Hotel Provincial. We were all treated with that pleasant southern hospitality.

The Hotel Provincial is not new. But, the rooms are clean, well maintained and most important, quiet and comfortable. We stayed four nights during a hot, humid period. Our room was pleasantly air conditioned and the beds were very comfortable. Best of all, it is located in an ideal part of the French Quarters, only a couple blocks from Jackson Square, the heart of the French Quarters. The staff were warm, friendly and willing to make our stay enjoyable.

We stayed in building 5, the so called haunted building. The age of the building and the looks make you think there might be paranormal activity. We didn't see anything. The ghost must like the comfortable setting and sleep most of the time. That said, at 8:30 one morning, laying awake in bed, it started to rock for about 10 seconds. Wow, was that an earthquake? I looked at the wrought iron chandelier and it was motionless. No vibrating windows. I asked one of the house keeping ladies if she had heard anything about an earthquake. She told me NOLA doesn't get earthquakes. I asked if she had every heard of beds rocking (I had not read previous TA reviews)? You could tell she didn't want to engage in this type of conversation. I asked at the front desk and they told me it could be a train. There are train tracks down by the Mississippi but that's about 6 blocks away and nothing else in the room was vibrating. It wasn't a violent rocking just a gentle back and forth, like being in rocker. Strange yes, scary no. Would it keep me from coming back, absolutely not.

Over all, there maybe many more modern hotels in NOLA but none more satisfying and comfortable. I would definitely recommend Hotel Provincial to anyone.

When selecting a hotel for our New Orleans stay after reading reviews we decided on Hotel Provincial. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite in building 5. We had read some reviews of ghost activity in that building. Being skeptics that we are we took that with a grain of salt. There was definitely some strange activity. Bed vibrating (caused from truck traffic?)and a knocking during the night. Despite that we had a wonderful time and slept well on a comfortable bed! If those strange happenings were ghosts, they were friendly. The staff was wonderful and the proximity to all the French Quarter has to offer was great. Would definitely stay there again.

I was visiting New Orleans in August for business and family. We stayed with Hotel Provincial and it was perfect! The room was superior standards - CLEAN, big puffy pillows and even an ipod docking station. The shower had water pressure & fluffy towels that had NOT been used a hundred times. The pool area and court yard was relaxing for coffee & pastries. The hotel is conveniently located with in walking distance of Bourbon Street, Margaritaville and Jackson Square where Cafe Du Monde is located. Take some extra time to enjoy the city. I highly recommend making this hotel your home away from home.

We stayed here for 2 nights before a wedding, along with several family members. The check-in was smooth, the reception friendly, and the room exactly what we expected. The location was close enough to Bourbon Street and other attractions, without the noise or traffic we found nearby. The courtyard was a great meeting spot for our group and also a nice place to have breakfast in the morning. This place is truly New Orleans and offers a great value for the money... we would definitely stay again next time we visit New Orleans.

I could not of been happier when I saw this hotel in person, especially for the more than reasonable price. Not only is it quaint with it's courtyard areas, the room was adorable. It is clean and the staff was above and beyond. Located very close to everything in the French Quarter yet in a quiet part of town- loved it!

Wonderful hotel located within walking distance to all the important places like the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Jackson Square and more, yet far enough away for it to be quiet so you can sleep when you choose to. Hotel staff was very friendly. Room was clean, and we had the special one with no neighbors, and a walkway all the way around. Furniture was in the "old-time" style, except the bed, which was very comfortable - and that says a lot from someone who never sleeps the first night away from home. Definitely staying here again the next time I am in New Orleans!

Room Tip: Choose Room 200 if you can - no neighbors. Second floor, and a little extra room to spread out

Nice, older hotel centrally located close to everything in the Quarter. Beautiful courtyard. Great valet, Terry?, who is not only very helpful but a genuine pleasure to talk to. Would definitely stay here again.
