This was my first trip to New Orleans and I'm happy to report that the Hotel Provincial is a nice Boutique Hotel in the French Quarters that offers comfort, style, peace & quiet. My stay was for three days / two nights on Nov 9th, 2013 to watch the Saints - Cowboy thrashing! :) The beds slept comfortable, the bathroom was clean but there was no HD services nor any HD televisions but they offered free wifi. The atmosphere is awesome and the location is great; everything is in walking distance. They offer free breakfast but let me be clear it's nothing more than small mini muffins, toast, small boxes of cereals, tea/coffee, and a few pieces of fruit. If you are looking for a major chain hotel, this isn't the place but you won't be disappointed... I will definitely return.

My husband & I stayed at this charming property for a week during Mardi Gras. The room (314) was the nicest, most unique room we've ever had.
The bathroom seems to have been recently updated and the beds were super comfy.
The continental breakfast included with the rate was a nice perk and included fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee (in addition to the in-room coffee), bagels, assorted Danish, orange juice, & hard-boiled eggs. To have that amenity offered during the Carnival season was much appreciated.
Housekeeping was very reliable, having missed service just once during our week-long stay. Truth be told, that was likely our fault, as we left the room around 10 that morning.
Parking was reasonable for the Quarter and the valet staff was very friendly. The front desk staff was out of this world. I've got mobility issues and one night after the parades I discovered I'd lost a screw for one of my crutches, making walking very dangerous, if not next to impossible. My husband went to the very busy front desk and was assisted promptly; though the fix was only temporary, the agent suggested we work with maintenance in the morning for a more permanent solution.
The location could not be beat. Approximately 5 blocks from Jackson Square and well within walking distance to the uptown parade routes without having to deal with the hassle of Bourbon Street if you didn't want to, but close enough to walk if you did.
The buildings themselves were very well-maintained, the lobby was beautiful, & we couldn't have been happier with our choice. We WILL be back. Thank you, Hotel Provincial, for the dream trip of a lifetime!!!

I love hotel overall, only thing I didn't like was they should have a better selection of breakfast. More variety of different types of bagels and there boiled eggs were cold they need to sit them in hot water with the shell to keep the warmth I hate cold eggs. But I love the service people very friendly I would stay there again definitely. They get a overall 4.5 out of 5

The hotel is ideally position in the French Quarter and we did not use our car for the full four days we were here.(street parking is a nightmare) The staff are very helpful and informative and the breakfasts are of a higher quality than chain hotels though you still eat on plastic. Our room (101) was very comfortable but the charming courtyard outside our door tended to attract noisy early morning gatherings of coach parties and late night smokers.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor rooms near reception

My husband and I have stayed at many hotels in the french quarter but we have always gone back to the Provincial. It's our favorite. The staff is helpful, it's quiet and the rooms are always clean and comfy.

Having never been to New Orleans before we really didn't know what to expect from a hotel in the French Quarter. We did a lot of research and decided not to go with a safe "big chain" type hotel and booked the Hotel Provincial for a group of 11. Months before the trip I emailed the hotel and asked a few questions and got immediate answers. A few days before we arrived the hotel phoned to confirm our reservation. This excellent service continued once we arrived. The hotel itself is breathtaking. Incredible architecture mixed with modern upgrades. The check in was fast and friendly, a staff member showed us to our rooms and the rooms were exactly what we had asked for. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the plumbing was very modern, the courtyard pool outside our rooms was beautiful. We arrived as Mardi Gras was just getting underway and we were less than a 5 minute walk from all the action. The bar off the lobby is a quaint gathering place at night and serves as a place to get coffee in the mornings. The staff arranged transportation to the Cruise Terminal for us when our stay ended and the ride was fast and reasonable from the hotel. This was possibly one of the best hotel experiences we have had in many years because of the historic design of the hotel, the courteousness of the staff and the charm of people from New Orleans.

Room Tip: There are 5 buildings that compose the hotel. The best rooms are those that have a courtyard or a co...
