“Great value in the Quarter”
Reviewed 23 November 2004

This property is incredible for its New Orleans charm, location, service, pool and even the Resturant. The rooms are a variety of types and locations. My favorites are toward the front and open into a small courtyard.

The Provincial is close to the French Market and the streetcar which make it excellent for both tourist and convention goers.

The prices are up and down but if you catch a good internet special you can get a $50 weekday rate without a lot of hassle.

The parking is great also - enjoy!

November 10 - 14 was our fun trip. The Hotel Provincial making it almost perfect. It was a great adorable place to stay, Courtyard, pool, small cafe and bar. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location could not have been much better. Walking distance to almost everything, and if not close enough to walk ride the need to experience street cars. French Market is a glance away, Jackson Square a few blocks as is Bourbon Street. It was great staying here in the French Quarter, but far enough from the noise and action for a family! Hotel Provincial made our trip wonderful!

We stayed at the Provincial the 1st week of October, 2004. We had made our reservations several months before that. After reading several reviews, we called and requested not to be in building 5. We had a room in building 2. It was nicely decorated with antiques, and clean. We had no problems with our stay there. The hotel cafe was a little pricely for the quality of the food. The location was nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing we would have liked was a small fridge and microwave in the room. But we had a wonderful trip.

We had a party of 7 in New Orleans for Halloween. 5 of us stayed at Hotel Provincial, the other 2 stayed over in the CBD.
This was the 6th visit to N.O. for my wife and I and it has really become our home away from home. We have stayed in many nice hotels (always in the Quarter), but our experience with the staff at Hotel Provincial was outstanding!
First, the hotel is large and sprawling over a massive property that stretches from Chartres (front) to Decatur (rear). Our building and room overlooked the French Market on Decatur. We like the hotel quite a lot - the room, the courtyards, the cafe (morning coffee was only minutes from the room!), but the staff was the BEST!
On our last day, the staff called us a cab to take us to the airport. When we arrived at the airport, I left my digital camera in the cab!!! I discovered my mistake within 5 minutes of entering the airport terminal, but of course the cab was long gone. Not one of us remembered the cab company either. I called the Hotel to see if they remembered the cab company they called. They said no, but they assured me that they would "track down" the camera and ship it back to me. At this point, I thought I'd never see the camera again. Losing the camera is not too bad, but the memories preserved in nearly 300 pictures were invaluable.
Anyways--- the next day, we received a call from the hotel- they had the camera and shipped it FedEx- we had it (and the pictures) the next day. If you think about it, the effort by the staff to recover the camera like that was just outstanding. Hotel staffers are very busy people and for them to be able to make the time to fix my mistake was just awesome and we really appreciate it!
Hotel Provincial, Lee, Lynn, Terry and all the rest of the staff, we thank you so much and we will be back!

My husband and I just returned from a week in NO and were extremely happy with
our choice of the Hotel Provincial. After reading some negative comments about building #5, we requested a room in any other bldg when booking through Expedia. We were apprehensive when we arrived to find our room was in #5, but it turned out to be just fine with us. We had a window overlooking the French Mkt, and a view of the river off in the distance. The building is old, but the room and bathroom were good sized and clean. We thought it was charming with its chandelier, old style furniture and decor, beautiful courtyard, and the sounds of the ships coming into the harbor. Very New Orleans. We have stayed in 3 other hotels in NO in the past, and the Provincial has absolutely the best location if you want to be in the French Quarter. Our only complaint was the bed was pretty hard, and our non-smoking room smelled like cigarette smoke a few nights when the people across the hall were smoking, but that can happen in many hotels. We got a great rate and will definitely stay in this hotel when we come back.

My Wife and I loved this hotel. Everything was just as we expected, the room was very nice looking out on the courtyard. Full of old world style. The staff was very nice, anything that we needed, they took care of. We had a great time and will go back many times

We always wanted to see New Orleans so decided to make it our 25th Anniversary destination. We certainly weren't disappointed. I researched several French Quarter Hotels on the Trip Advisor Web Site and picked the Hotel Provincial based on the number of positive reviews. The Hotel Provincial was certainly an excellent choice. The staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful from advising what make of Creole and Jambalya mixes were the best, to arranging tours and even calling a taxi to arrive within minutes when our prepaid Airport Shuttle service did not pick us up as pre-arranged for our return flight. The pools and courtyard are beautiful. The place is spotless. The location was excellent - only a block from Decateur Street and the River. We absolutely recommend this hotel. Our stay was perfect in all ways.
