We stayed in NOLA at this hotel and it is in the perfect spot, just a block from the trolley which will take you where ever you need to go. A street down the block is St. Charles Ave which has a lot of bars, restaurants, etc that you need, and Magazine street is close as well. The staff is nice and friendly. Great place to stay and good prices.

Overall one of the best hotels we stayed at on our recent trip between Chicago and New Orleans and back, it had everything we wanted and more.

Hotel- Lovely historic building and although the doors to the rooms opened to the fresh air you had to go past the reception to get to them so they felt safe in a way that some hotels don't, its hard to describe but it really is a unique set up. We sat in the courtyard and had a beer on both evenings there and it was lovely.

Staff were all friendly and there was a safe deposit box available for free at reception

Location.
Its about 30 yards from st Charles and as long as you kept to the main streets it felt really safe and with a lot of restaurants and bars on st Charles it was busy although we didn't stay out too late.

The area around hotel felt perfectly safe although a few blocks away on the other side of st Charles it looked to get a bit rougher

We walked into the French quarter which takes about 15-20 minutes and the streets were fine, although we didn't do it after dark we took the trolley car which dropped off on st Charles at the top of the roa no more than a 2 minute walk.

Amenities. The room was lovely clean and with a mezzanine/loft area with the second bed in it which gave it extra charm, wi fi worked and everything clean and spotless.

Parking was free, car park was open air, but overlooked by reception so was fine

Breakfast was normal continental fare, again I just appreciate free coffee and juice with three of you that's worth $10 alone

Some good bars and restaurants along st Charles, we ate at Blind Pelican which was literally at the end of the road turn right and walk 25 yards on St Charles, good food and beer and decent prices

We reserved this hotel for the free parking but were a little disappointed. Had a ground floor room that you had to go through a kind of Indoor alleyway to get too. Room was clean and breakfast simple but correct. Trolleybus is just down the road giving really easy access to town centre. Staff very friendly and helpful. For info the car parking is outside and not closed - you get a card to put in car to show you are a client. We stayed two nights with no problem even though the road itself didn't inspire much confidence.

Hotels3, General Manager at Prytania Park, responded to this reviewResponded 15 September 2013

Dear Guest, I am sorry for the disappointment you felt regarding our property. Since we are a courtyard style hotel, the interior alleyway as you called it, are actually the walkways to the guests rooms. They are landscaped and have wrought iron seating, and lovely benches for enjoying the sourroundings. Many guests sit with a glass of wine, or whatever beverage suits them, reads, plays cards, or just relax. You commented that the rooms are clean and comfortable, parking is free, simple breakfast. Therefore, I am not sure where the disappointment is coming from.

Possible the fact that you commented the parking is not closed off, and it being outdoors? Were you expecting a high rise parking deck like most big box hotels have? We have a large offstreet self parking lot at the lobby entrance that is well secured by lighting at night, and staff to monitor. As you said, nothing happened, but with any large city, surroundings may sometimes not inspiire confidence in regards to security, but that does not mean its not safe. You must never judge a book by its cover. We are in a mixed residental/commerical neighbohood, but that is apart of our uniqueness and charm. Tucked away from all the hub-bub, but close enough to walk or take streetcar.

Possible by the uninspired street you claim is around us? Not sure if you meant the Famed, St. Charles Ave with the shops and streetcar line, or Prytania with all the mammoth live oak trees and homes dating back to the early 1840's, or Terpsichore street, where our lobby entrance is on. We do have an abandoned home right at the driveway entrance, to which we recently purchased. Still working through all the red tape to renovate being that we are in a Historic Landmarks District.

I do apologize again and iff you wish to discuss, I welcome an email to manager@prytaniaparkhotel.com

Fondly,
Dori H Schulman

The New Orleans charm of this place is readily apparent when entering the lobby and especially when walking into the courtyard. The room comfort and appointments are nice enough and the location is fantastic. It is located in the lower garden district which is about mid way between Tulane/Loyola and the French Quarter. It is a short walk from the St. Charles streetcar line and several good restaurants.

We spent 2 nights at Prytania Park. The 2 women we talked to at the front desk were extremely helpful and patient with our questions on how to get places, where to catch the trolley car, etc. The room was exactly what we expected, clean and quiet. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with choice of sweet rolls, bagels, cereal or toast. The location of this hotel is perfect, one block from trolley. We also walked to Lafayette Cemetery and to the Voodoo barbeque. I would definitely stay here on a return trip to NOLA.

Room Tip: We had a room with a loft...I believe 230. It was quiet and for 3 people it was big enough. You don't visit NOLA to stay in your room!
